Foot pain during step class?

I love doing step classes. I also do RIPPED, and pump. During step in particular though, the bottoms of my feet get very sore, so the point where I don't push myself as much as I could, or it affects how I'm working out. I look forward to the times we're doing repeaters or something and I can give one of my feet a short break.
Is this normal? Do others experience this? I don't know what I can do to alleviate the pain, or keep it from happening altogether, because it is affecting my workouts.
Thanks for any suggestions, I don't know what to do, where to turn!

It's the bottoms of my feet, the soles. The entire bottom gets sore. It does go away when I stop working out. It only happens during class, I usually walk home from the gym and even by then it's lots better.
I notice it mostly in step, but have noticed it in other classes if there's a lot of jumping or lots of plyometric type movements0 -
might be the shoes
when i started zumba, my arches would KILL me. new shoes and that problem disappeared.0 -

I've wondered that. I have more than one pair, and it happens in both. I'm wondering if i need a certain fitting or something?? Where would I go for something like that, if that's what it is?0 -

a running store?
thats where i went (and im not a runner) i love the shoes they set me up in!
I mean, it could be something else, but I try to rule out the most obvious (and probably least expensive, as compared to doctor and physio visits) first....0 -
Go to a running store. They will watch the way you walk or run and then give you multiple shoes to try on based on your personal needs. Makes a huge difference! I had them fit me for a pair of sneakers for walking. I was experiencing soreness like you describe and my feet were just tired feeling. Like I was wearing weights on them. It was night and day in terms of comfort attire I switched shoes. and I was wearing name brand shoes before going to a running store. Make sure it's a running store and not some big sporting goods store. Time and place for everything but the staff at those big stores are not nearly as well trained.0

Just like you described, soreness and almost a tired feeling. I have a Running Room by my house, so I'll go there, sounds like they should be able to help. At least like PP said, this will be a starting point for me. If I try it and it doesn't work, I'll look into other options. I'll try shoes first. Thanks everyone!0
