Which activities are you doing this summer and why?

I can't decide what I want to do. I can really only commit to one regular thing. Thinking about dance, volleyball, stand up paddling, and dragonboat racing. I like the balance and focus SUP promises, and the idea of being around water. Dragonboat racing = water, and it's a team sport (a good thing). Maybe a bit grueling, which isn't bad. Volleyball = fun, outside, also a team thing. I freaking love dancing for the fun and sense of self-expression, but it usually happens indoors and it's not so much of a team thing. I think I might need to do something outside.

What are your criteria?

I'm hoping to find more time to ride my longboard and my bike. I also want to do a lot of trail running and some hiking when I get to the National Parks in the US during my vacation.

I wish I could do outdoor exercising, but unfortunately even with 3 allergy pills a day all year round I still can't handle the pollen. I can exercise outside in winter though! I am just going to stick to my normal routine...treadmill and recumbent bike at the gym.

two main activities I'm planning -

cycling, because I want to justify buying a new bike and there's plenty of hills round here - the more I cycle the better I'll be able to get up them.

also dancing - I do Lindy Hop/swing dancing - which might well fit your 'team' thing as it's partner dancing, also plenty of it goes on outside.

and a bit of walking and swimming thrown in and who knows I might even make it to the gym?

I have a 6/30 fiscal year end so summer is my busy time and I try not to add stuff to my schedule. It's my least favorite season because I'm not a big fan of >75* temps so it works well. I pretty much just garden, do my regular exercise, and work.

Running my first duathlon on Sunday, first triathlon on May 31st. I lost a total of 112 pounds so I could do big things and not be a big thing.

Recently started swimming, because it was suggested as a good alternative to running, which I cannot at the moment do like I used to, because I am still recovering from tendonitis. Good thing it is spring already, because the closest to home is an outdoors pool, and swimming under the sun is really nice as the weather gets warmer and warmer.
I am also trying to add at least one long walk per week, as I love walking now the weather is nice, hoping to gradually turn this into a run.
Other than this, I am keeping weight lifting and the oocasional pilates from my winter routine.

Ouch. Sorry. Tendinosis sucks the big one.

I have 15 obstacle course races on my schedule this year. So I'll be rolling around in mud, scaling mountains, and carrying lots and lots of heavy things around :) Will be traveling all over the NE and am PSYCHED about it.

I also will enjoy riding my horse, playing soccer and training for the above races. There will also be lots of "swimming" aka floating in my aunts pool with a beverage of choice in hand.

And I do these things because they are fun and I enjoy them....otherwise I wouldn't lol.

I'm not much of a group/ team sports person. I definitely want to get back onto a wakeboard this summer. Maybe I will even jump the wake if I'm brave enough (I'm such a wuss). SUP is definitely on my list of things to do more of this year. I also plan to buy a new bike and do some nice long rides.
Ahhh I can't wait for summer!
