I like the kernels toppers, they're great to use even without oil or butter they stay pretty well. I love splenda and cinnamon when I'm craving something sweet and salty. Salt and pepper with a little bit of oil from a mister goes a long way. I am definitely going to try taco seasoning, can't believe I didn't think of that!

Did you see the movie "Whiplash"? Early in the movie, the dad of the main character dumps an entire box of Raisinets into the buttered movie theater popcorn.

Edited to add: It was definitely not low calorie, but it was intriguing.

    Here's a recipe for Dorito-flavored seasoning that's healthy:

    5 Tbsp nutritional yeast flakes
    1 tsp garlic powder
    1 tsp onion powder
    1/2 tsp sea salt
    1/4 tsp ground black pepper.

Mix together and sprinkle on top of popcorn. Each tbsp of nutritional yeast is about 20 calories and it's what gives this mix the cheesy, Dorito flavor. This recipe is enough for 5 servings.

I use a spicy seasoning I bought at a hot sauce festival, it's called St. Lucifer's. Don't know if you can buy it many places but it rocks.

I like it better with Goobers than raisinets.

These all sound great! I think I'll try the curry and yogurt raisins first, then the kernels seasonings if I can find them.

There's a book on Amazon called "30 Perfect Popcorn Recipes". It's also available for the Kindle. I have the book - the topping combinations are yummy, but not always diet-friendly. I don't have time right now, but I think I'll have time tomorrow to go through it, and just post here any of the good ones.

Nutritional yeast flakes! I know it sounds weird but honestly, it is really simple, nutritious and tasty -it will make your popcorn taste cheesy. I love "smartfood" brand popcorn and the nutritional yeast on popcorn satisfies in the same way :)

I buy the little bags of Orvil Redenbacher Naturals in Lime and salt. So good. You could make it yourself though if you wanted. Just a little fresh squeezed lime juice mixed with a little butter and salt.
Also one that is good is cumin and a little butter and a touch of cayenne pepper. It's like taco seasoning but without all the excess salt.
Spenda and butter would be great to mimic the kettlecorn flavor they sell in stores.
To make even lower cal you could sub the butter for margarine though.

This is what i use, along with spray butter or an olive oil mister to get the seasoning to stick better.

    Other options are
    chipolte seasoning
    curry seasoning
    or...one of my favorites:

It's not a sprinkle or powder, but I always DIP my popcorn in Frank's Red Hot. I'm kind of a hot sauce junkie though.
