I have never had fish. I would like to try to cook it at home but I don't know the first thing about making it. Any ideas for a beginner? I would have to bake it in the oven...

Great way to do it, just simply bake it. i like to spray the top of my fish with coconut oil to keep it moist while baking. Simple. I usually pull mine from the freezer. And season when you serve it. I love mahi mahi, salmon, crustaceans (which are also great for stir fry). I also have cod in the freezer, not my fav but I still eat it and it's good, convenient. I opt for wild-caught instead of farmed.0

It's easy to pan fry quickly. Pat a room temperature fillet dry with a paper towel and spray the pan with coconut oil and let the pan warm to medium high heat. When the oil begins to smoke a little, set the fillet in the pan. Season the top (I just use pepper). Let it cook for a couple of minutes. Before you flip it, spray it with the coconut oil. It takes just a couple of minutes per side.0

The key is not to overcook fish. I tend to bake most of mine. If I have a piece of halibut (say 1 inch thick) I bake it at 350F for no more than 10 minutes. That could even be a bit too long.0

Fish is a wonderful source of protein and there are so many ways to cook it! You can bake, broil, or pan cook without adding a lot of calories. Experiment with different seasonings, cover with a little wine. One of my favorite ways is to bake it in the oven with lemon slices and onion layered on top. I also cook it this way on the bbq, just wrap in foil. Really only takes a few minutes. When it flakes with a fork, it's done.
I'm not a fan of tilapia, but most other fish are pretty delicious!0 -
I eat salmon once a week. I buy the frozen Atlantic salmon from Costco. Just follow directions on package (thawed). It's hard to beat salt, pepper, butter or olive oil and fresh squeezed lemon as seasonings. My favorite is Kikkoman Triple Ginger and Garlic Marinade/Sauce/Glaze.0

Top salmon with your favorite salsa, microwave covered for 3.5 to 4 minutes, depending on thickness.0

I love eating fish. Our favorite way to cook it is to lay out a sheet of tin foil layer a bunch of fresh veggies with some seasonings (usually fresh basil, salt, pepper, a little butter) topped with a fillet of whatever fish we have then fold up into a tight envelope. We BBQ it for about 3-5 minutes per side (starting on the veggie side) depending on the thickness of the fish. It tastes great and we don't need to make any sides with it, just slide on plate and enjoy.0
