Any trainers familiar with Fitbit?

I've had my fitbit for 2 months. I've been trying to meet my goal of 10,000 steps/day by doing a little here and a little there. Last week, I met with a trainer and added weights and activities that really wouldn't count as "steps" on the fitbit. I've been manually inputting activities on it the best I can. This morning I did a very intense boot camp at the gym. At least, it seemed intense for me. But it didn't register many steps. So I put inputted the activity and went over to mfp. Less than 50 exercise points registered over there. Here's my question for those with real knowledge of the gym...what is the better calorie burner..to do 10,000 steps throughout the day, without really feeling like you are exerting yourself, or a solid, sweaty hour or so in the gym? Because I'm completely confused now. Thanks in advance.

I log my fitbit steps and that's all. I do lift weights and do other strength training exercises, but I don't log those in addition to my steps. They are beneficial to your overall health, but you don't ever want to overestimate calories burned.

I guess I didn't word that as well as I could have. My point is that I only have so many hours in the day. Am I better off pusing for 10,000+ steps every day or doing an hour or so of more intense work daily?

I think it comes down to what makes you happy. In my experience I've been told cross training is best. So one day get your 10000 steps another day sweat to your hearts content. I personally do both. Strive for 10000 and also take Cardo class and body pump. Haven't found a way to log body pump yet but that doesn't detract from the fact I did it. My body knows.
