Hi! I am 5'2 & weigh about 175 but I don't look like it , a lot of people say it's my thighs and "curves" but I am still not satisfied with that number. It's always been hard for me to eat right and be a normal weight for my age because I do not like salads , fruits , or veggies. Any suggestions ?

Eat salad fruit and vegies? You're not a child!
You can't dislike all fruits and vegetables, that's ridiculous. They're all different flavours and textures. You can cook them differently for even more different flavours and textures.... Try adding a new fruit and vegetable every week. Buy local seasonal ones - i honestly believe organic ones have more flavour.0 -

Your not being at a "normal weight for [your] age" is not due to not liking salads, fruits, or veggies. It's due to you consuming more calories than you burn.
Fill out your MFP profile accurate, weigh/measure your food, log it, eat at least 50% of your exercise calories, and you will lose weight.0 -
Try roasting vegetables. I used to say I hate veggies too, but my intake of them increased exponentially after I started having them roasted. You should force yourself to eat more of the stuff little by little.
Part of the issue could be the bacteria living in your digestive system. A study last year found that we are subject to the whims of the bacteria in us and that they can make us eat things that are not good for us because it is good for them. By depriving them of their fuel and providing fuel to the "good" bacteria, you will gain a preference for better eating because whichever bacteria you fuel will supplant the other.
It just takes some determination, some will power, and an open mind. Otherwise just accept yourself as you are now.0 -
I mean i know how to lose weight , the problem with all the people wanting to lose weight is the motivation to exercise and eat less but I'm happy with my body , I like have a decent flat stomach and thighs it's just I was wondering if eating what I don't like and not enjoying what I eat is the only way to eat healthy. I'd be happy with the number on the scale if the weight was in all of the right places lol. But i have the toning up and certain exercises that I need to do to tone up down pack. I just was curious on the substitutions for healthy food.0

There's no need to have salads, and you can get by without fruits, but if you don't eat anything in the veggie family it will be hard for you to maintain good nutrition. Try more kinds of veggies and different preparations, maybe you'll find one you can stomach. Some ideas to try are:
mini sweet peppers, raw or sauteed
Raw carrots dipped in hummus
A smoothie with fresh fruits and baby spinach
Baked sweet potato sprinkled with cinnamon
This is weight loss aside, because you CAN lose weight without ever eating a single veggie, like if you goal is 1400 and you eat 1400 worth of Twinkies and bacon you'll still lose weight, it's just not a healthy way to eat or live!

I also don't like salads or most vegetables so I feel you pain! I just had to start eating them anyway, which felt like torture at first but now just seems like a part of my routine. I find the more fruit and vegetables I eat, the less high-calorie food I crave and the easier weight comes off. You might just have to keep experimenting until you find a few you can stand. I'm guessing you could live without vegetables or fruit as long as you took a multivitamin and got the right balance of calories and macros, but all the nutritional advice I've ever encountered says we should be eating at least some fruit/veg...even if you don't enjoy it.0

I used to think this too, and there is a grain of truth: Eating healthy means you can't always have as much as you want of only your most preferred foods all the time. You don't have to eat anything you utterly hate, and you don't have to give up anything you love.
But it's like all of life: You have to work and you have to play!

Eating bad an losing weight gets you "skinny fat". You'll have a number on the scale that might be appealing, but you will still have a higher fat makeup in your body comp. No matter if the scale says 500 lbs, 250lbs, or 180 lbs, 50% body fat is undesirable.
The thing is though, you do not articulate WHY you do not like these healthier foods. Also, you can probably avoid them, but you're going to pay for it elsewhere in your wallet too.0 -

I find it very possible that someone can dislike all fruits and vegetables. There isn't one vegetable I actually like, and I have a friend that only eats one kind of fruit and one vegetable. Every set of taste buds is different, and I don't know how food tastes to another person.
HOWEVER, I agree that OP should eat them anyway. OP, try finding different ways to prepare them, or work on hiding them in foods. Mix some peas in with casserole, roast your veggies and eat them with a sauce. Or make them into a sauce. Try making smoothies and see if a combo of fruits/vegetables tastes good to you. I don't like apples unless I microwave them and sprinkle them with a bit of cinnamon and sugar.

I just said in that same post to find substitutions for healthy foods so I can enjoy what I eat. Someone can be happy with their body no matter what they weigh instead of crying about it. Im just trying to be healthier , but this will be the last time I post something on here. Annoying.0

Oh no! Makes me sad when people say they don't like veggies They are so good for you and there's so many ways to cook them. And they look so pretty with all different colors and textures - fun to shop for. You can try incorporating them slowly into your diet. When I first started I smothered everything in cream cheese, may not be good for you now, but every time add less and less of the condiment. Eventually you'll start appreciating the subtle taste of just the veggie by itself. I started adding them to my cooking, like for spaghetti I sauteed some peppers and onion in a pan with some garlic and then add the sauce. It takes many times eating something to acquire a taste for it so keep trying. Personally, I still don't like salads at all! Much rather eat my veggies within a real meal, haha. Good luck!0

Food is just fuel. Eat whatever you want. You can lose weight eating any food. But if you want to be healthy you have to want to make changes to your diet. Taste happens on the tongue, preferences happen in the brain. You can learn to like any food, if you eat enough of it.0 -

It's annoying because you're looking for justification to eat crap from the sound of things and not liking the fact you're told that it is not possible. Sorry, but it's a fact of life and how our bodies work. You cannot out-exercise a bad diet. Period. You will end up with the aforementioned "skinny fat".

Well, it all depends on your goal...
If you want to lose weight but don't care for your health, eat whatever you want and just make sure that you don't eat more calories than you're allowed.
If you do care for your health, on the other hand, get used to fruit and veggies. Try smoothies (green or regular) as a sweet but healthy drink. Try whatever you can stand.
Don't shy away from the fat foods, rather shy away from sugar. Recent science says fat is better than carbs (Exercise Myth), and they also say that a little bit of exercise will not be enough if your diet is not healthy. Of course, this also depends on how much you actually exercise (see here: “You cannot outrun a bad diet”- REALLY?).
In the end, it really depends on the question: do you want to be healthy, or "just" lose weight any way that's most comfortable to you?0 -

I don't look for justifications for anything I put In my body , I never told anyone well I wanna eat chocolate! No I asked for substitutions for eating just plain fruits or veggies and I got alot of good answers. But the second I said I like my body like 2 people freaked out. And it's sad but I will continue to like my body, never been the stick figure type, I can eat healthy and i should be allowed to enjoy it and that was the purpose of this to get suggestions and i appreciate the ones that gave them too me. Instead of the ones calling me a child, saying I was ridiculous for my taste buds like damn , it's never that serious lol0

If you don't want to lose weight and are happy with your body, don't.
As for "eating healthy," it sounds like what you mean is losing weight. No, you don't have to eat anything in particular to lose weight--just eat fewer total calories or exercise more (without increasing your calories). Eat less of what you currently eat, if that's what you want, or if you log you may find some easy ways to save calories--I don't care about bread that much, so I usually eat meat and, well, veggies instead of a sandwich or a burger without the bun and enjoy it as much or more. If you eat higher calorie meats you might find that leaner cuts are just as satisfying, so on.
But you would have a healthier diet (if you care about that too) if you did eat vegetables. Not necessarily salad--lots of salads aren't even that great, although you can make a super healthy salad--but vegetables in some form.
You may not care about that at this stage of your life, though.
IMO, vegetables taste really good if you cook them correctly.0 -

Well there's not really much that you can substitute in place of fruits and vegetables as an entire food group. You can take vitamins to get the vitamins and Metamucil for the fiber but I don't think that's what you are looking for, are you? Are you looking for recipes? You could eat plenty of grains and then enriched other foods.0 -

I'm wondering if you're a super taster OP. A lot of your type don't like fruits and veggies. Google for ways to hide them in sauces, brownies, cakes, and smoothies. Chocolate covers the flavor of a lot of things.0

Food is more than something to be enjoyed... your body is a machine... it requires a certain level of dietary nutrition in order to function properly.. in order for each and every part of your "internals" including your brain to function properly... you can "survive" a short time on JUST water... will you be happy, healthy, and thinking clearly if you ONLY live on water for a couple of weeks? a balanced "healthy" diet requires thoughtful consideration... IF you feel the need to exclude a large variety of vegetables then you need to find alternatives by doing your research and stop looking for strangers to provide you the quick easy response.. this IS your life... manage it responsibly.. instead of trying to pass your choices off to a bunch of strangers... I had a friend back when we were about your age.. he was all gung ho about his independence... I can eat whatever I want he said... and so he did... he didn't like veggies either... until one day... a tooth fell out of his mouth...and NOT a back tooth.. right there up front... so.. go ahead... eat whatever you want... be prepared for the consequences... hair loss, moody and irritability... and if a tooth falls out of your mouth... who cares.. so long as you don't like veggies... what's the big deal???0
