I am Pauline, and I live in the midwest. I am fast approaching the glorious age of 69. I have fought my weight most of my adult life, and lost 50 to 100 pounds several times in different ways one of which was by surgery but with no support I gained it all back plus some. I am trying to lose this time for my health and just learning to eat healthy and move more. Have had some back issues that have kept me immobile. If you want to know anything else just ask, I don't mind.

Good for you. It's very tough what you are doing and most people would just give up. Takes a strong woman. Good luck with your journey !0

Hello Pauline! Your story is very similar to mine. I never had weight loss surgery but I have had my ups and downs with weight loss. I've lost 75 gained it back, lost 75 gained it back. It just seems like the story of my life. In 2012 I had open heart surgery had to have 2 valves replaced on the road to recovery and eating right. Then last year I tripped and fell and broke the bone in my left shoulder! You talk about immobile been there but we will get thru it. I am seeing a nutritionist to keep me in control. Have you seen one yet? My insurance pays for me to see one 6x a year so I'm taking full advantage any thing that BCBS has to offer. Also, I try to go to our Wellness Center at least 3 or 4 times a week. Do you have anything like that in your town?? It has wonderful classes for those of us that are getting older. I am sending your a friend request. You keep me accountable for our good health!0

Hi! I am 60, and I'm fighting the same battle. I feel our biggest obstacle is that our metabolisms are practically non-existent! And it seems no matter what I do, I can't make the scales move! I have to use a walker, and I want so badly to walk on my own again. I have severe arthritis in my back and hips, and my knees have been totally bone on bone for over 20 years. I can't have them replaced because of heart and kidney disease. (When it rains, it pours, right?!?) so I can truly sympathize with those that have multiple medical issues. The thing that really sidelined me was sciatica. It is evil! I fell one day, and ever since have not been able to support myself on the right side. I've had injections in my hips and back by a pain specialist, but nothing has helped very much. It has improved some (that took 2 years) so I am working to be able to walk and drive again. I am very independent, and not driving or being able to go out has been VERY difficult. Oh, and then my husband of 38 years LEFT ME. I could not believe it. I guess I wasn't much fun any more, haha. Needless to say, I was pretty devastated. But I have recovered and am determined to get healthy. (He was obese for decades too; then he lost weight and left me. Go figure!)
Anyway, I didn't mean to make your thread mine. I have no one to talk to, as I'm home bound. I get carried away sometimes; sorry!! If you want to add me as a MFP friend, my online name is dinobomp.
You take care, and have a good week.
