When is it more beneficial to have my whey?

90% of the time I can do my entire workout all at one time. But there are days like today, when I did my 30 Day Shred in the morning, and then had to do my 4 mile run in the evening.
When should I have drank my whey protein drink? After the HIIT muscles, or the more prolonged intense cardio? Tonight I chose after my run, but wonder if I should have done it after my weights.
Thanks.

Protein helps in building muscle among other things, and I've noticed most people recommending to drink it within the 30 minutes after you finish exercising, so I'd say after weights.0

Whey is quickly absorbed and best consumed within an hour of your workout. If you split your workout, why not split your whey?
I just read this article this morning...

I just started taking whey yesterday. I'm excited to see how it will work out for me.0 -
It wouldn't hurt to have it after both workouts, even if you have less of it. Another option is to have a different kind of protein source after your other workout. The purpose of having protein after your workout is to give your body a different place to look for protein to restore its self with other than your muscles. So if you could only have it after one workout, I would have it after the harder workout, but I'm not sure....0

Personally, I would do it after both. You also might want to do some research on how much protein you should have per day for your weight and gender. I know that as a guy, I need to have at least 1g per pound of total weight or even up to 1.5g per pound (lots of ways of calculating this, but this is the most basic). Not sure for ladies, but I wouldn't be surprised if you shouldn't be taking in more protein anyway.0
