Negative calories

Someone once told me that hard boiled eggs are negative calories because it takes the same amount to digest them that's in them. What do you guys think to that?

I was just googling negative calories to see if I could find out if that's true (didn't find anything and then got side tracked), on lots of the negative calories websites is Kelp noodles. They sound amazing (well apart from being made of sea weed) only about 8 calories and they look scrummy. Has anyone tried them and does anyone in the UK know where to find them, looks like I might be able to find them in a Chinese supermarket.

Sorry I don't know but commenting as I'd like to know, I love seaweed! As for boiled eggs, I doubt they are negative cals but I could be wrong, most neg cal foods are crunchy and only neg when uncooked I think

The most amazing negative cal food I know if is Strawberries! May seem unbeliebable but it's true!
Not sure about eggs though as they're quite high cal/fat...
  • I'm answering my own question now. doe. Googled some more and found this, and no eggs are not a negative calorie food :(

"If you are looking for a perfect diet food to add to your fat loss plan, then consider hard boiled eggs. They are high in protein, they have some of the best type (form) of protein because it is easily absorbed and used, low in calories, and low in fat.

    UPDATED POST:

If you eat eggs with no yolk, they only have 17 calories, .1g of fat, and 3.6 grams of protein and only .2g of carbohydrates.

A regular hard boiled egg has 79 calories, 7 grams of protein, and 4.5 grams of fat.

There are two other main benefits of eating a hard boiled egg:

    1. It takes approximately 24 calories just to digest a hard boiled egg leaving you with only 56 or so calories.

    2. Hard boiled eggs are “boiled” and not cooked in other oils or butter that would increase the total calories for the meal and they cook in minutes.

I love soft boiled egg best. After the water boils, put the eggs in and let them boil for approx 5 minutes, then take them out. Run them under cold water to make them easier to peel. If you have trouble peeling, then just use a spoon to eat the egg out of the shell.

Awesome! I love hard boiled eggs…Just watch out to not eat too many. There are cholesterol concerns if you ingest too many egg yolks – hard boiled or not…"

Yea, the only way I get negative calories is when I do a bunch of exercise.

Love the hard boiled eggs too. only here at the office instead of boiling them, microwave. My evolved procedure has been to crack the egg into a bowl and mash the yoke up and mix with a fork. then use half power level for about a minute per egg. because not mashing the yoke sometimes causes it to blow up. and using full power level sometimes causes it to blow up. Lately I am adding chopped up pepper and onions to this, so its really more of an ommelette i guess. but the no oils, and the eggy goodness. I guess the more protein in the egg helps keep me from snacking as badly between breakfast and lunch (oh yea, i just cook this at office for breakast).
