take aways
Hi there
I am going to a mens night at the church tonight and the idea is a take away and a movie.
TBH the only take aways I have had lately is veggie delight from subway! (basically wheat bread stuffed with salad - no cheese and no sauces)
Any advice on something else thats a healthy choice?

Shish Kebab with Pitta bread, salad and no sauce is a good take away to have.. I believe it is less than 500 calories. Unfortunately most take out is stuffed full of fat and calories but something like lean lamb/chicken, that is cooked dry without a lot of oil should be healthier than Pizza or a fish supper.0

Thanks, that sounds good! so shish as opposed to doner then that way its grilled?0

Shish kebab is made of cubes of good quality lamb meat which are flamed over an open grill .... Donner is pretty much all the dregs of lamb you really wouldn't eat without having had 4 or 5 pints. LOL.
If you can, ask the take away if they do wholemeal pitta as that is healthier than white and don't have chili sauce, but do have salad.

Thanks for the replies. I imagined Shish being skewers of meat and veg. It came as a Pita pocket stuffed full of cubes of lean lamb and lots of salad. No sauces but my downfall was about 1/2 a portion of fries with it. However I was still 700 calories under my goal thanks to an hr on the treadmill earlier.0

Try take away from a sit down restaurant that offers a more traditional meal. You can get grilled chicken or steak with veggies, etc. Try Ruby Tuesday or TGI Friday's....something like that. Think "no drive thru joint".0
