best digital slr camera to buy?

Options
I am going this weekend to purchase a new camera....woooohooooo!~~
I am SO EXCITED. I know doesn't take much to excite me.

On a serious note. I want to buy a camera to capture my family and all
of our wonderful moments. I have a Sony but it's a little old school.

I was thinking about a Canon t1i....
I want one that will take good action pics.
My daughter is on her High School Dance Team and I want to take some
awesome pics of her at her dances and compeitions.
Also....I want one that as soon as you push the button it takes the pic.....no stuttering.
Nice zoom is a must too.

Any suggestions?

    What's your budget?

If your fiances are unlimited, the world is your oyster.

I have a Nikon D3000 with a 18-55 and a 70-300. It takes lovely shots and does what I want it to at a budget I can afford as I have more than one hobby and am not a pro.

If I won the lottery I'd get a Nikon D3.

That's about £550 in my currency...

Often electronics are cheaper in the US than the UK...

Have you seen whether you could get a Nikon D90 for that cash? Or a D5100?

Alternatively Canon EOS 550D, or 600D?

Honestly it comes down to your own personal preference. I'd go and physically hold the cameras and decide what feels the most comfortable in your hands and which controls seem the most logical to you. I'm a Canon girl (since I bought my first SLR in '92) and I currently have the T1i and LOVE it. My BF has the new Sony SLR and it is really cool camera and takes beautiful pictures. Pretty much all of the brands are comprable in technology and picture quality. Some have more bells and whistles and some have less. Just go with what seems comfortable to you.

For that money you can do better in the EOS range than the Rebel T1.

I have a Canon and Nikon right now, and truly prefer the Nikon......the D3000 would be a great one to own, but I still enjoy using the D90........

To be honest. I think it depends on your cash flow AND what you want to use it for.
If you want a basic GOOD camera, Get the Canon EOS Rebel (whatever current version there is). I have it in SLR & DSLR. Both have served me well.

It is easy to use. I'm no graphic designer/professional photog... but I take great pics.

Good luck and HURRAY for a great camera.
