I just started Jillian Michael's 30 day shred on Tuesday. I'm on day 4 and with each and everyday I just feel more and more tired. I'm eating healthy, I'm eating all of my exercise calories back, and I'm getting enough sleep. Does anybody have any suggestions to help me boost my energy. I don't know how I can make it all the way through day 30 and level 3 when I already feel like this. Help!

Are you getting enough sleep?0

Are you eating red meat? I didn't realize it but I had cut down on red meat without intending to and it has higher concentration of B vitamins than most meats/protein. Now I take a supplement if it looks like I'll go a while with out red meat (B-6 or b12 is good)0

May need to open your diary and give more info (height/weight/age, activity level, loss per week goal) for people to give any specific advice on things to tweak.
But it may have to do with food choices. If you aren't getting enough of any one macro, and you are exercising vigorously, you can have fatigue.
Could be your loss per week goal is set too high, so you still aren't eating enough.
Could be your burns are inaccurate, again leading to not eating enough.
Might just be getting sick from a cold or something.
Are you drinking enough? Dehydration can cause fatigue.
Could be lots of things.0 -
Hey there! What I've started taking is a Super B-Complex. It's all natural and helps convert food into Energy. You can find this at any Walmart, Walgreens, pretty much any supermarket or drug store. The brand I take is Nature Made and it has vitamin C and Folic Acid. You should really try it! Just Google Super B-Complex vitamins and read about it's benefits.
Hope this helps!0 -
* Iron deficiency (red meat)
* B12 deficiency
* You also may not be eating enough. Are you using an HRM to estimate your calories?
* It also may be your body saying it's been working too hard and needs to take a day off.0 -
I am thinking ....
Are you getting enough water?
Are you taking your vitamins?
Maybe a B12 would help...
Make sure you are getting enough protein.

Did you feel this way before you started the workout? Because I started getting really tired about a year ago, with little physical activity and I went to the doctor and had blood work done and told me I was anemic. Its common for women to be iron-deficient anemic. Maybe you should get your blood checked? Good luck!0

I was also exercising before and was curious why my energy levels were so low...Here are some things I discovered/incorporating:
Vitamin D (important for people who are indoors a lot...like me)
Vitamn B12 (nutrtional yeast is a great source) as well as Vit B Complex
Iron (Added meat to my diet)
Water (8+ glasses)
Reduce Carb/Salt intake. I eliminated almost all "processed foods" and seen a DRAMATIC change...0 -
increase water intake & take some kind of women's multi-vitamin.0

Same thing happened to me at first. Then I realized my calorie calculations were incorrect, so I wasn't eating enough. Mostly, I wasn't eating enough for breakfast. I'd be dead tired come 3pm. So, I had to start forcing myself to eat every few hours. Breakfast, snack 2 hrs later, lunch, snack 2 hrs later, another snack 2 hrs later, workout, then dinner. You also need to make sure you're taking in enough vitamins. I take a protein shake for breakfast and dinner so that has most of what I need, but you may consider taking a multivitamin as well.

Take a daily multi-vitamin!! It'll make a big difference because your body is working so much harder. Also talk to a health food coop or a trainer the gym. Sometimes they know the right portion to add a B12 or other vitamin supplement. Don't guess these types of things on your own. As a professional. You can overdose on certain vitamins and do more harm than good.0

You might just be overtraining. Being tired is a common indicator of this. Even Jillian says you don't need to complete 30DS in 30 days. Take a rest day and see if it helps or not. Better to take 31 days then burn out, right?0

Make sure you have a weekly rest day and that you're getting enough sleep. Your body needs extra sleep time to recover and repair.0

Yup, I was going to say the same things. Maybe track your Iron if you aren't already and see if you're really low.0 -
I asked my trainer this very question last week. On the days I meet with him (M/W/F) I can barely keep my eyes open about 2 hours after we are done. This even with my chocolate milk post workout and lunch. He says that it means what we're doing is working. That in order for muscle to build (I'm strength training with cardio thrown in) you have to rest that is when it all takes place. He says that on my training days I need to go ahead and shut my eyes for about 20/30 minutes in the afternoon. If you work I know that is hard, but I did a MFP search on this and some folks on here have this problem and they are doing their workouts before bedtime and it's made all the difference.
I guess he's right, I feel a lot better with a bit of a siesta and I've seen more results in the last 3 weeks than I have from January to the end of April. My biggest: I'm now up to 1 minute planks x 3 . So maybe you just need to adjust your sleep schedule, make sure you're eating right and google the choco milk after workout-- it really does make a difference too.0 -
Thanks for all the advice! I'm going to try ALL of these things!0
