Snacking was my weakness... so I made this.

I only just recently started using myfitnesspal, but have been dieting for the last few months making a steady loss. One of the things that helped me was dealing with the snacking that would take over during TV time. My husband and I are both couch potatoes in the evening and I found that I was snacking just... because. I decided that if my hands were occupied, then I wouldn't be able to have them in a bag of potato chips. So I made this:

Lesson, it's hard to snack when your fingers are tied up in yarn. Give it a try :) Really easy to learn!

Looks great. I wish I was talented enough to make something like this. Or really anything for that matter. Just not artistic enough. For my snaking urges I just munch on hard boiled egg whites or celery sticks. Not a lot of fun in that at all.

My husband and I are couch potatoes in the evening too, and snacking "just because" while watching TV is my big problem. I love your solution! I have another that works for me. My husband and I are saving up for a trip to Europe and recently I discovered the community forums on Trip Advisor. I can distract myself for hours (i.e. Not eat) by going onto the forums for my state and providing advice to others who are planning travel to places I know well. I've also started to go to bed earlier and spend an hour or so reading in bed before sleep rather than watching TV. Once I'm inbed with my teeth brushed and flossed there's no chance i will eat. Pretty much anything that occupies your mind and keeps it from constantly wandering into the kitchen works.

This is awesome and I have found diversion works well for me too but I like to get outside and pound the pavement. I'm glad you found something that works for you!

Wow, that's really nice! I paint my fingernails when I'm feeling snacky. You can't really shove your hand into box of Cheese Nips if your nails are wet.

nods nods nods... I am an avid costumer- I build a lot of my own costumes- and that requires hours and hours of hand beading and fringe making and things.

I binge watch TV just to I don't sit down and bead and do nothing. I don't ever sit down to watch TV.... I'm beading so I watch TV.

When my BF comes down I try to sit and watch with him to just watch- it's nice to relax and do nothing- but yeah- TV = project time.
