I was looking for some motivation of women who are roughly my size who have lost a significant amout of weight. I stumbled accross this pic and now I am wondering if it is at all worth it? I was horrified!

    Of course it's worth it!

Being healthy is ALWAYS better, regardless if you end up with some loose skin. All your organs on the inside will be looking better, even if you can't see them

Whats horrifying about it? She opted for the scar instead of the loose skin, I would trade off.

that's actually really interesting to see thanks for sharing, I think in time that would heal quite nicely it's very neat work and 6 years on my cs scar is hardly visible!

yes it is!!! dont give up. we are both trying to reach for the same goal. i wanted to just scream this morning because i went to the school scale to weigh myself. i thought for sure i would have weighed less. i didnt gain or lose. that is why we are here for each other to keep motivated. you can do it!!!! :)

Well, if you're only goal is to have the body of a 17 year old model, then it might not be worth it. Yeah, there are some scars of being heavy that don't go away, some hang around even with surgery. For me, it's about way more than that. It's about pushing my athletic boundaries, treating my body like I care about it, and being a good example of what I expect for my kid. As one who has lost a fair amount of weight twice in my life, I can say that its completely, 100%, absolutely worth every minute, stretch marks and all.

Oh jeez! That gave me the goosebumps. Yuck!
If you read the first comment below the picture, they say it's rare to need that kind of tummy tuck. I would say just make sure you're doing plenty of reverse crunches & I would think you'd be fine.

I think the scar looks better then the lose skin, and I'm working towards a tummy tuck.

Are you horrified by the lose skin or the scar?

I am not sure what scares ppl about that...the before and after--she looks great imo. I would trade off a scar for a flat belly. I have never had a body to wear a bikini to begin with and if I chose to I would much rather have a scar than pancake belly. Like the one doc said, when she's in her clothes she won't even notice it--assuming she doesn't walk around in tummy exposing tops 90% of the time. I think most of us mom's tend to dress our age so...yes its worth it. Besides in the long run how you feel, how you perform day to day, and your overall health is worth it. If living a long healthy life, raising my kids and being a good example for them, living into old age and seeing grandchildren/great grandchildren etc means trading in my fat for some loose skin and maybe one day some post op scars--I will make the trade :)
