Well you did not ask a specific question so if you just want to know how to start:
Use the MFP tool. Put 100% effort, dedication and commitment to this and ITS FREE.
1) Get a food scale, weigh and log everything.
2) Do cardio if you want, and if you do, only eat back 50% of your calories.
3) Lift weights if you can
4) Cheat meals (or your indulgences) over maintenance will sabotage all your efforts.
5) If a cheat meal happens LOG IT.
6) You can lose weight eating the same things you do... IT IS SMALLER PORTIONS and MODERATION.
Best to choose foods to help you stay under your calories without feeling hungry.

It's no harder (or easier!) to lose weight in your 50's IMHO.
Fat will come off wherever it chooses to, typically the last place to go from will be the place you want to lose it from the most!
Stick with it, it's worth the effort.0 -

Yes, it is, particularly for women. However it can still be done! Just keep plugging away, log everything, don't give up when a plateau appears. You probably won't be able to crash off weight like you could a decade or two ago, so ignore any cheery "Let's lose 30 pounds in May!!" challenges. But slow and steady is the way to build a new, sustainable life.

I agree that weight loss can be a bit harder for women, but that's irregardless of age. As FishyK mentioned slow and steady is the way to go.
