I got a fitbit as an anniversary gift Friday. I am very happy with it and feel it pretty close to being accurate. The only problem I am having is my calorie adjustment on mfp. It says on my dashboard that I have burned 591 calories today but I am only getting a calorie adjustment of 251 calories. Why is that? I will add I have a fitbit charge hr.

Your Fitbit burn is TDEE (aka your maintenance calories). Adjustments are the difference between your Fitbit burn and your MFP activity level.

There is an activity level in your MFP profile that MFP uses to make a guess at how many calories you're likely to burn during the course of your day. Fitbit tells MFP exactly how many calories you really did burn, so MFP adjusts for the difference and gives you credit. It can also take away calories, which can happen if you have it on "active" and you sit at a desk all day.

So this means that the 591 calories reported by Fitbit is 251 more than what MFP expected you to burn. The two numbers won't ever be exactly the same. The bigger the better. That means you've been more active.

So the number could actually be negative. Although there is an option to turn off negative adjustments.

I saw a suggestion when I got mine a couple weeks ago to set my activity to "sedentary" and leave negative on, then just let Fitbit take care of it. It's working great.

    Grats on your Fitbit!

If (and only if) you enable negative calorie adjustments, then eating back your Fitbit adjustments means you're eating TDEE minus deficit: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings
