Hello!
I'm so confused: I am a newspaper reporter, so I spend a good amount of time pounding the pavement, and I probably spend an average of 5-6 hours all day sedentary, including when I get home to relax. I exercise 3-4 days a week, and I am 5'4" and 120 pounds. Am I lightly active or active?

Exercise isn't part of your activity setting so that part is irrelevant.
(Read the sticky threads in this forum to understand how this works.)
Certainly not active so suggest you start with lightly active and if you aren't seeing results in line with expectations after 4 weeks adjust accordingly.0 -
Great! Thanks! Just switched from MyPlate and that used average days of exercise as a guideline to determine activity level. Sorry for the extraneous information!0

with a BMI of 20.5 are you sure you want to be losing weight?
or do you want to be resculpting your body in a body recomp which would entail eating at maintenance and following a progressive lifting programme to get results0 -
this is a body recomp - see how the scale weight increases?
