Different scales

I have two scales, both the standard non electronic kind, that are showing weights around ten pounds off. One, which I've had for around four years, says 155 and the other which is brand new says 146. Does anyone else encounter this or know what can be done? I weigh myself on the same surface right next to each other on both.

I have one scale, bought it about a year ago because I couldn't get an accurate reading on my old one. This new scale reacts the same way. I can step on it 5 times and get a different reading every time. I'd like to stick with the lowest reading, my thought on that is 'how can the scale read less than the weight on it', but then I feel like I'm just trying to make myself feel good.
My advice to you, check out your weight by placing both scales on the same spot while weighing yourself. Sometimes a slanted floor can change the scale weight.

Get a 5 pound bag of sugar or flour or another item for which you know the exact weight. Place it on each scale to determine how far off each is. Then when you weigh yourself adjust the weight by the difference.

I would just use one scale. Pick the one you think is more accurate and ditch the other one. Or buy a new scale. You can drive yourself nuts otherwise.
