Why is the last 6 pounds so hard to lose.
Should I start maintenance NOW or wait until my goal is reached.

I'm scars to lose the 6 for some reason. It feels so unreal. I was 220lbs. My goal is 165.

You're scared because the structure you're used to will change. It will be a whole new phase to adapt to...how to eat right and losen some of the restrictions you're used to without gaining the weight back. And change is scary for most of us. But you can do it! It's a matter of learning a NEW structure, and not going back to bad habits. There's a blog post in MFP that talks about maintenance that you may want to read. Oh, and I would wait to start maintenance until you've actually reached your goal. Good luck!

My plan is to wait until I reach my goal weight before I begin maintenance. I think that what makes the last few pounds the hardest is that you know you are so close and the scale won't move fast enough.

Congrats on the progress so far...that's great!

Maintenance, by definition, means you don't lose any more weight (on average, you will of course still fluctuate a bit). So if your goal is to lose 6 more, then you shouldn't do maintenance yet.

The last pounds ARE hard to lose...because your margin for error is so much smaller primarily.

    Buckle down...you're almost there!
