So I have been doing really well with diet and exercise. I am proud to say I have lost 27 lbs!!!
The problem is that I tore my meniscus in the process and just had surgery. I will be starting PT on Monday and can do low impact when I'm up to it, but I must stick with low impact for at least a month. This bores me to tears because I have been running and doing Turbo Fire. Any suggestions for low ipmact exercises I might grow to love as much as Turbo Fire???? I have 30 more pounds to go and am so afraid I might put some weight on without exercising as much as I want too!:grumble:

I'm no expert but should you not speak to you doctor on this one, as you could do more damage than good0

I feel your pain. I am 3 months post op and have had two other knee surgeries in the last 12 years.. My doc says to bike for life - for healthy knees. So I've been biking ever since and have found tons of local trails (in a metro area btw) and that is kicking the calories for me in a knee-approved way.0

Yes I did speak to the doc and he said anything low impact is a great start to get back where I was. He told me to only to PT the first week and then start with low impact exercises.0

He did mention biking. I used to do that about 15 years ago. Maybe I should give it another try! Thanks!0 -

After three lots of knee surgery I can concur that cycling is the way to go! Both static in the gym (a good way to get started post op as you can set it very light - the real world isn't so forgiving!) and then out and about - start with bike paths which are fairly level to start off with. Once things are healing up a bit I found that hill walking was good - it's low impact and you can still get a good sweat on when going up those hills! You have to be VERY careful about the impact from coming back down - if possible choose a walk with steeper ups and smoother downs - avoid steps! Good luck!0

You could try some upper body weights I guess and once the wounds are all healed could try swimming or aqua aerobics0

elliptical( cross) trainer - I have trouble with both my knees and feet. The elliptical trainer has been brilliant. I have one at home and usually watch tv whilst I use it. I can generally burn 400-500 calories per half hour, and its all low impact.
