French Toast & Canadian Bacon Under 250 Calories!
I'm currently on the Chalene Extreme Program, so I'm watching my carbs, fats & upping my protein. I've been wanting a satisfying breakfast for a while & just plain eggs won't cut it! I made this breakfast this morning & it was just what I was looking for! Just wanted to share the wealth!
Whole Wheat French Toast with Canadian Bacon:
Ingredients:
2 Egg Whites
1/2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract (works with Almond Extract for you almond lovers out there)
1/8 tsp Ground Cinnamon
2 slices of Nature's Own 100% Whole Wheat Bread (make sure it's the one that's 50 calories a slice)
1/4 Cup of Smucker's Sugar Free Breakfast Syrup
Hormel Canadian Bacon (thick slices, 70 calories for 2 slices)
Light Cooking Spray
Directions:
1. Measure out 1/4 cup Sugar Free Syrup.
2.In a bowl, combine egg whites, vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp of sugar free syrup (I took it from the 1/4 cup of syrup I separated so as not to add extra calories to the already generous serving size). Beat lightly with fork or whisk.
3.Dip slices of bread in bowl, flipping over to coat both sides completely.
3.Place a non-stick skillet, sprayed lightly with light cooking spray, over medium heat. When preheated, cook slices of bread for 2 - 3 minutes on each side, until brown.
4.Brown Canadian Bacon Slices for 2 minutes on each side in same skillet.
5.Drizzle the remaining syrup from the 1/4 cup on the French Toast & enjoy.
This Breakfast comes out to:
Calories: 236 Carbs: 29 Fat: 5 Protein: 26 Fiber: 4 Sodium: 899
*If you have a larger appetite, you can easily add an egg white omelet with veggies and/or low fat cheese or even fresh fruit.
