Exercise and Infertility

Dear MFP Community,
I am 27 with endometriosis. I have been struggling to get pregnant and did get pregnant last year but unfortunately lost the baby (miscarriage at 12 weeks). I am looking for support for anyone else who is struggling with infertility. Infertility can have a big impact on your mental health. Exercise is good for that. I am looking for anyone else who is struggling with Infertility. To help each other stay motivated, etc.

HI Vanessa,
I am not currently struggling with infertility but I have a long history of it. I struggled for several years and finally have two babies (ages 4 and 2) thanks to IVF. Infertility is VERY tough and challenging. It is very mentally and physically challenging. I did exercise on and off through my struggles and I know I felt better when I was exercising. Please try to keep that constant in your life during this difficult time!
So sorry about your miscarriage. I've had a couple also, very hard!
I'd love to help you stay motivated.

Hi Vanessa. You can call me Retseh. I have Stage 4 endo, and have been trying to get pregnant for the past 4 years. I have had 3 pregnancies (IVF) and lost them all. Last summer we lost our furthest along pregnancy at 11 weeks. Next month we're trying a frozen embryo transfer from our last round of IVF. I'm terrified. I have been very depressed and struggling with anxiety, and I have gained weight due to this. I'm looking to get healthier before our cycle. I'd like to be friends, so we can support each other, if you'd like.
I'm currently 5'8" and 240lbs. I can't believe how I've blown up in the last 5 years. I've had 3 surgeries (excision) for my endo and it keeps coming back. I am trying to focus on eating better and exercising, both to lose weight, and to keep depression and anxiety at bay. I really struggle with the exercise part, because I feel so chronically tired. And when I'm feeling lazy, the fingers do the dialing for take-out. Urgh!!

Hi Vanessa!
I am still recovering from my 5th miscarriage. I don't have endo, or pcos, in fact my infertility or inability to carry a baby to term has been diagnosed as "unexplained". I know how hard it can be to get back on track in terms of mental and physical health. In the last 3 years and 5 pregnancies, I have gained 40lbs. That's a whole lot for my once small frame.
I'm here if you need a little encouragement or an ear to vent to. You'll find there are a lot of us, you're not alone.0 -

Hi everyone, I hope you are doing better and pregnant :-)
I have had 4 miscarriages, and I am now doing my first ivf cycle. I am trying to keep positive and taking care of how I eat and avoiding stress... but that's not easy. After each miscarriage, I went through a very depressive period, feeling sorry foy myself, and that's not really me.
I have undergone a battery of tests, and no specific cause was found.

Another 2 FET's and both of them failed over the summer. Still 240 lbs, so even though I haven't lost, at least I haven't gained.
Apparently there's a book called "Is your body baby friendly" or something that may be helpful for unexplained miscarriages. I wanted to know if anyone has read it? I would have to have a friend in Michigan buy it for me and mail it to me, as it's currently not available in Canada, annoyingly, so it would be interesting to know if it's worthwhile.0 -
I struggled with infertility. I never had endometriosis, but have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, natural killer cells, a blocked fallopian tube, and a few other things that kept me from getting pregnant. Because of the stuff I had, no amount of diet or exercise would have allowed me to get pregnant. Exercise is good for mental health, and seeing a therapist would also be a very helpful step. I have had at least 2 miscarriages, and the difficulty getting pregnant was extremely taxing on my mental health.
(We did see a fertility specialist in Indianapolis, and went through 2 fertility cycles with him - have 2 daughters now.)
