so so confused can anyone help with vivofit

So I've had my vivofit a few days now , I really can't figure out how to add the activitys which is the real reason I bought it , im sure there is a way and I'm totally missing the point

    Do you have a heart monitor? If you have one any exercises done with your heart monitor on will be recorded as activities.
