Hello all,
I have been noticing here recently that when I work out whether it be cycling, running, or HITT weighted workouts like cross fit, I tend to get congestion. Sometimes I'll get a runny nose but mainly I will either have to spit it out or do a farmers blow then after that I'm good for awhile. Does anyone else run into this? If anyone else runs into what causes it and should I seek medical attention?

That's why they design cycling gloves with terrycloth on the thumbs.

Yes, constantly runny nose whenever I am exercising. Have NO idea why. I don't worry about it as a health issue, just always have Kleenex or a bandana at hand.

I don't know what causes it, but my nose runs when I exercise too. I also end up coughing and constantly having to clear my throat. Sometimes if I've pushed myself really hard during a run, my coughs sound like a smoker's (I've never smoked). It's very annoying.

I have the complete opposite of that, lol. After a long run, my nostrils become so clear that inhaling hurts. It's so bad, I have to focus on breathing through my mouth for a bit.

so I found this on reddit...https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/35xq5v/im_able_to_run_on_the_treadmill_for_3040_minutes/ and there was another link in there that also took me to this...http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1371041. hope this helps all.

Now if I could only understand what most if that ncbi study said without having to look up every third word, LOL.
