The blow-by-blow, tell-it-like-it-is writing cracked me up. It's a good testimonial as to why crash diets are unproductive and harmful at worst.

"Nothing about this sounded remotely healthy."

Yep, that's trying to sell you overpriced anorexia. Hell, when I was anorexic I ate more than that. o_O

I know quite a few people who need to read this article but I'm afraid they wouldn't get the hint. I like how she knew going in that this wasn't going to be healthy and was of course very skeptical about the whole thing, but after the conversation with the sales rep I would have opted out lol. That's just ridiculous to try to sell that to someone, she's braver than I am for trying it.

I dated someone whose mother tried something like this (isn't this basically like Nutrisystem?), and she went a little cuckoo-bananas and just ate all the desserts and went on with her usual meals after a few days.

She'd keep the nutrisystem coming, but only eat the desserts and pastas she liked. Of course she never lost weight.

My coworker lost more than 50+ pounds doing the Seattle Sutton plan (not sure if it's just a MN thing?). It's not nearly this bad, as he had fresh meals every day (not frozen, and full meals). But, of course he just ate what they gave him and never learned to figure out portion size, etc. He lost all the weight, but stopped doing Seattle Sutton and guess who has gained it all back? He went right back to eating like he did before. I remember him saying at the time he'd done Seattle Sutton before...yeah, you're probably going to have to do it again because you're not learning to lose weight and keep it off! I believe he was on something like a 1,500-calorie plan which is really low for a man over 200 pounds. Makes much more sense to keep track of your calories and eat normal things so you learn how to eat for the future.

The article was okay, except for the fact that she believes Splenda is bad and breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Woah. I never knew Medifast was that way. I never really pay attention to pre-packaged meal diets because I wouldn't last a full day on such strict eating. But wow, that's disturbing.

With the ziti pasta thing, I wonder if she was meant to make and add her own pasta? The side by side comparison of the package and real life food was priceless. How people sleep at night marketing one thing and selling another, just, wow
