The Millionth Mile

Pump, pump, pump my heart goes beat,
I walk on this treadmill and shuffle my feet.

I’m going to be thinner I said with a smile,
I just have to walk another million miles.

I’m tired of not being able to buy clothes off the rack,
I’m tired of not being thin, or leading the pack.

I’m tired of the looks and the silly grins,
I’m tired that they think, we all have double chins.

I’m tired of shopping at a big and tall,
I want to be shopping at Barneys or the mall.

I’m tired of being the biggest guy,
I’m tired of asking God simply - why?

I’m tired of worrying if the chair will break,
I’m tired of wondering who to trust, and who is fake.

So I went to the gym and began to work out,
And after 5 minutes I was down and out.

But I’ve been walking each and every day
And now since January 50 pounds have gone away.

I’m not quite done with my weight loss,
Fast Food is the enemy, but now I’m the boss.

Yes it hard and yes it’s slow,
Yes, I still have another two hundred pounds to go

I can’t take it off in a night or day,
After all it took 44 years to get this way.

So back to the gym I go with a smile
I gotta finish walking my one millionth mile !

It's very catchy. I like the meaning you put into. I hate those looks and people who snicker, but you have done great losing 50 pounds so far. Keep up with the weightloss AND the poems. :]

I really like that! As a fellow walker and same age as you, I can really relate. I'm walking with my team today and we're getting so excited about our big challenge in the summer.

We're walking across the South Downs (humongous hills!) for 62 miles in under 30 hours. We're raising money for Oxfam and the Gurkha Trust.

We've been training hard since January and my team mates are 20 or so years younger than me, so I think I do well to keep up!

Carry on with the walking. Do you always walk in the gym? Have you tried hiking outside? I'm guessing you've got some pretty spectacular scenery in the States.

Keep on with the poems, too, they're fab
