Hi. I'm a 55 year old mental health worker, married and with two children. I have had borderline diabetes for several years, managed easily with one metformin a day and little other effort. Now, it seems, my numbers are worsening and I must truly try to take this seriously. I see myself as someone who has never done well controlling my weight as I love food and hate to exercise. My children are still teens, however, and I want to stick around and be healthy enough to enjoy life with them, so here I go. Hope to meet some of you here.

Hi Sounds like we have a bit in common. I'm 56 have a boy and girl in early to mid 20's. I've had high blood pressure for over 10 years and am now being investigated for possible heart problem. I could use another MFP friend for encouragement and support. I keep my diary open to friends as I like to see what others eat for ideas for myself. Please add me if you like! :)

Hi, other than the health issues, I am the same, I hate exercising, and love to eat (especailly when I am alone). I am 56 have a son & daughter 26 & 29! I am finding I have accepted the next weight & size each year, and it has got to stop. Hoping I can find some encouragment from people my age. When I was in my 20's losing weight was not a problem. 30's was a little harder but I got the job done, 40-and up, I've just accepted it and it's now it out of control. Don't want to accept the next size!
