I struggled with depression and bulimia for years. Now that I am fully recovered, for which I am proud and thankful, I am unhappy with my body. I want to lose the healthy way. It's hard to do after I've been the other way...any help from survivors?

I used to use laxatives to lose-- I have stopped that for over 8 years now-- and I struggle with losing naturally. I try to remember I don't put on weight overnight and it won't come off overnight either. That I need to be healthy for myself and my daughter. I try not to compare myself to others, although I do look to people for motivation- like saying- my friend has great legs but she worked hard for them- i can do it too if i work hard.

I don't know if that helps at all...but I hope you learn to feel comfortable with who you are and the skin you're in.

Read the "GET RICH QUICK!!!" post at the top of this board. It is a good truth, and has been helpful for me to keep in mind. Hope it helps you too.

Hello, I am also trying to lose weight the healthy way and also recover from bulimia myself. It is awesome you did, congrats :) That is an amazing achievement for your health and happiness. I stopped for 5 months (was a new years resolution last year) but then fell back into it. I also want to lose weight the healthy way, so bad.. it's extremely hard to go back to smaller than normal portions after being bulimic. Sorry I can't help much since I am looking for the same advice, but maybe we can try together if you'd like. I could use a friend for motivation and support.
