So after my evening walk last night, as i was sitting on the couch thinking about how proud i was that i actually started my life style change.....i got to thinking. "what in the heck am i supposed to snack on that actually fills me up and doesn't leave me starving for more?" I'v been all over the internet looking at healthy snacks...and all of them are nuts, and raw veggies....well certain nuts i'm allergic to due to sensitive digestion, and raw veggies make me feel even hungrier then i did before i ate them! HELP!!!! are there ANY snacks out there that actually help when you need it?

my last snack at 8 pm daily is a glass of water and either a red delicious apple or 18 raw/unsalted cashews or raw/unsalted 20 almonds...go to watch what your are eating as your last meal/snack....got to make it the least unprocessed food that is not an empty calorie because it will not sustain you..0

If you're not allergic to it, my favorite is either a banana or an apple cut up with peanut butter. Or hummus and carrots. Cottage cheese and greek yogurt. String cheese. Those are typically my go-to snacks. Or cheese and crackers, if I have enough cals left in my day. I'm a sucker for cheese and crackers. A little high on the sodium though :happy:0

*I have been addicted to fried green peas (not wasabi) They are not that low in calories. it is about 130 per 1/2 cup. The good thing about it is that they are very crunchy and it takes you a long time to eat so it is a great diet food. If you like sunflower seeds you will probably like peas. I get them at the Natural living center for only like $2.00 a pound. It is very cheap. Makes sure you get scoops with enough salt.

You won't like this one bit, but one of the biggest lifestyle changes for me has been not snacking in the evenings. I have always been a grazer. It is very easy, and seen as very normal to sit in front of the TV with some food while you are resting, and it was quite a big mental switch to make myself realise I didn't need that. I don't need to eat just because I am watching a film, or because I am hovering around the kitchen. I now only eat when I am actually hungry, not bored, not thirsty.
I really think learning not to snack is a big part of relearning about food.0 -
Ya'll are amazing!!! i never imagined that i would get this much support! thanks for all your suggestions! they will be put to good use ;-) i'm so glad i joined this website!!!!0

thank you so much for that amazing list! there is more than enough to choose from! i'm bound to find something i love!!!0

i work in the community and drive around in my car all dday. I start work with a box of cherry tomatos, they are delicious and healthy but i have to agree its hard to snack without it turning into a main meal!
i like yoghurt raisins, nuts, go ahead bars, black olives, apples, and try and drink lots of water or squash to stave off the appetite.0 -
i like low fat string cheese or the mini babybel light cheeses and some Special K Multigrain crackers. YUMMY!! that is what i will eat if i need a quick snack!0
-
One of the biggest changes I have made is learning not to snack. Most people have got into the habit of grazing away all day, especially in the evening, and I think that is what counts for a lot of weight gain. Find something else to do with your hands.0
