I did notice that. I wonder why not, this is one the skinnest groups going into the finale I have seen I think.

I agree. totally. I hope Irene gets in the top 3 because Jay is a dead giveaway for the winner if he does. The girls don't have enough to lose to even compete with that. They are already at perfect weights IMO.

I noticed that too... One of my favorite parts as well... but I think we all know that they could have completed it easily, so maybe that's why?

Are you sure you're watching the current season? America is voting now for the 3rd position (Jay or Irene) right now so it hasn't even been decided yet, who will be in the finale.

I don't follow the show, but perhaps they didn't run a marathon because of the 2009 scandal where they cheated to get the finish line shot, and then faked the time clock reading as well. The marathon officially closed after 6 hours, and when it became clear that Dane was not going to finish in time to cross the line before then, he and his wife were given a ride for 3 miles, then dropped off to finish.

In 2010 they showed a contestant finishing a 5k in an amazingly good time, but it turned out the show had not measured the course properly and it was only 2.8 miles rather than 3.1, based on GPS readings from other runners who participated. That mistake was unintentional I believe.

The contestants do accomplish amazing things, but it's a shame that the needs of the TV producers sometimes fake things up. It might be more useful to see people give it their best and not quite make it. There is nothing wrong with aiming high and not quite achieving your goal the first time around. You just need to try again. That might be more inspirational than setting up unrealistic expectations that cause people watching the show to feel they have failed when they can't achieve the same results. More reality and less TV.

Nobody can easily complete a marathon, no matter how thin or in shape they are. Marathon training takes so much more than just being able to run a few miles. There's a mental component, physical aspects beyond just the running and an emotional barrier that kicks in usually around the 20-mile mark. I'm always amazed by the contestants being able to train for one in such a short time since most people, myself included, spend 5-6 months training for a full marathon. But I guess having the support systems that they do makes it a little easier, but no matter what, a marathon is never easy for anyone.

I agree! Having run a marathon I was actually a bit offended the first time they ran the marathon. They made it seem like it was no big deal to get 30 days notice to start training for a marathon. I trained long and hard and I was in shape before I started training.

I noticed it too. Maybe the producers thought it was getting old as they like to claim they like to change things up. Also, I think the contestants were at the ranch longer than any other season because the starting number was doubled with the two sets of trainers. Maybe it will be a surprise at the finale that they actually had to do one. (jokes)

Oh trust me, I didn't mean the comment to downgrade the training for a marathon, but I think that their training on the Biggest Loser is for "anything", they are just so fit this season. I feel like they could do anything that was put in front of them.
