Use the search feature. Spell military correctly - you'll see 100 threads on how stupid it is. Hot dogs, saltines and ice cream - that is something someone made up as a joke - not something you should actually be using as valid nutrition and a good weight loss plan.

NO... when I tried it, I did lose about 5 lbs, but on the 4th day I gained it all back... Even though it was only 3 days, I was miserable and starving. The best thing to do is stay away from that fad diet. Just eat whatever food you like as long as you stick to the amount of calories MFP has given you. And noticing that you seem to only have 20 lbs to lose, the best weight loss goal for you would be 0.5 lb/wk. Welcome to MFP! :flowerforyou:

Sigh... why is this diet so popular all of a sudden?

It's a fad crash diet. Eat well balanced and nutritious meals in a caloric deficit and you will lose weight.

Any weight you lose off of it will be most likely water weight that you would most likely gain back when you are off this "diet".

Thank you all. Then I won't consider this diet.

I am on my 6th week and have lost 2 Lbs every week. It works just not 10 Lbs a week. And you still have to eat well on your off days.

This is like the 10th time I've seen this question in the past week. Where did this thing even come from? It's not affiliated with the military (at least not in the U.S.) and the diet itself is rather stupid.

Sorry, OP, you won't find much support for this here.

I don't think that anybody who has posted about this in the last few days has been able to spell "military" correctly. :) My favorite was "militart."

OP, scroll down three or four pages and you will see several discussions on the topic.

Holy effin restrictive! I went to the military diet website and looked at what they want you to eat. WTF? Hot dogs, saltines. Gotta throw some eggs, tuna, and whole wheat toast so they sound legit. Encouraging weight loss of 10 pounds a week or 30 pounds in one month? Ridiculous! They're obviously trying to kill people. Eat at a TDEE healthy calorie deficit and you'll lose. 1 to 2 pounds a week.

Not to mention strokes of genius like "Grapefruit kick starts the liver into fat burning mode." what...

The Military Diet (and all other super restrictive fads) set you up for yo-yo dieting, frustration, and possibly gaining more weight than you had to lose in the first place.

I agree! Better yet Don't Diet! Instead start focusing living a healthy life. Eat a balanced diet in reasonable portions (reasonable being a variable amount based on where you are and the healthy place you want to be) and get a healthy amount of exercise. Make changes in small steps if you have to, (it probably better if you do) but just keep focused on the goal of improving your health. Soon you'll start to feel better, stronger, healthier. And as you go along on the journey to a healthy you those numbers on the measuring tape and scale will take care of themselves. And by focusing on a healthy life by the time you get where you want to be you've re-trained yourself so you are less likely to go back to where you were.

The above is my distilled version of several dozen success stories and blogs from MFP and other places.
