Bread

BREAD is something I find really hard to reduce in my diet. I don't like pasta (so that's not a problem) and the use of splenda help but I still consume too many carbs. Any suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated. :)

    I eat a lot of bread so I subsituted White for wholemeal so at least I was getting a better source, still not managed to reduce the amount thoigh

    I definitely eat whole wheat bread products rather than white but I feel IL "addicted " to carbs

    I just realized that bread is something I'm not willing to sacrifice. I just adjusted my exercise accordingly rather than sacrifice foods I love. Probably not what you're looking for, but eat the bread.

    Try Ezekiel bread and if you can quit the Splenda and try stevia. Splenda has the same effects on the body as sugar not to mention the negative long term effects. Ezekiel bread is very dense and all natural, will keep you full longer and tastes yummy. Have you tried it?

    Being able to eat my fried eggs with bread every morning is a huge motivator for me working out. lol

    I feel ya! I love tortillas and pretzels so it's tricky. (and garlic bread...and donuts... and chips)

    No I had no clue splenda was bad! And I've nvr heard of Ezekiel bread

    Don't deprive yourself of anything, especially if it's something that you enjoy eating. How much is 'too much'? Breads/carbs can really help fueling workouts, and they also help with recovery. If your goal is to lose weight and eating in deficit, it generally does not matter what you eat.

    Just say no to low carb. Eat bread in moderation. I promise carbs won't hurt your progress.

    I found a Sara Lee line that is 45 calories per slice. (The slices also seem to be thinner, so I think that is how they reduced some of the calories) But the biggest change you can make, regardless of what bread you use . . . make your sandwiches open-faced. Viola - half the bread calories GONE!

    Splenda isn't "bad", there's no reliable evidence to support that.

    I like Weight Watchers bread. Ezekiel is good too but I don't really find it much lower in carbs than your standard loaves. Bagel thins are great and just smaller loaves so the portions are more modest :)

    Trader Joe's Sprouted Rye has awesome macros and it's so good.

    LOVE tortillas and I just discovered the Weight Watchers ones, which have awesome macros.

    You could also make your own - my favourite is a seeded rye sourdough - not that tricky at all once you get the hang of it.

    There are no scientific human studies as it relates to splenda being "bad".. Splenda does not affect your body the same as sugar..

    I love all breads, especially whole grain so I've actually given up other things to offset having a couple of slices a day. I stopped eating regular peanut butter and full fat cheese. I make a couple of egg whites for breakfast and put them on a piece of whole grain toast. Delish.

    My intention is to limit calories by reducing carb consumption. I use multi grain sandwich thins (I buy generic called sandwich skinnys) with 5 grams of fiber. I also use ole brand extreme wellness wraps. The tomato basil has 9 grams of fiber. Both options only rack up 90 calories each and they are delicious!

    Ezekiel bread is in the freezer section near the health food type items...the raisin is wonderful, toasted, with a little almond butter on top!

    sara lee makes a wholegrain bread called "delightful" that I use. It's only 45 calories a slice. I rarely eat bread, but it's thinner cut slices, and makes a great sandwich. There is also many companies out there using carb control in the production of their goods. Check out the recipe section on MFP. We all share ideas and recipes. It's absolutely awesome.

    Oh ! Haha! So you don't have Trader Joe's where you are. That's okay, many stores will carry sprouted grain breads, with no flour in them, only sprouted grains. So delicious especially toasted!
