Hi, just after some really good mason jar salad ideas? Never done them before but seem like such a good idea!! My problem is I have no sense of adventure when it comes to putting food together so mine would be boring without asking others for their help

Is it not just a salad in a jar?

I eat out of mason jars every day. LOL.

Build the salad with the nutrients you need. I weigh all the bits, so I can log them. You'll get more adventurous as you build while considering your needs. Focus on your particular goals. Need more Protein? Add Quinoa, or Chicken, beans or egg. Need more Potassium? Add tomato or cantaloupe, beans or nuts. Need more calcium? Add Spinach or Yogurt etc. Just put your dressing option on the bottom.

What about veggies... try spiralizing beets, different textures for carrots, dice a red pepper, they are so light and colorful. What makes the jar appealing are the colors.

Need to change your dressing to less fat? Blend out Carrot or ginger or use a yogurt. Need healthier fats in your dressing? Consider Avocado or nuts. Want a specific cuisine like Mediterranean? Focus on Feta, tomato, cucumber and olives.

Sick of greens, make a "lasagna" with won ton wrappers instead of pasta for the layers. Choose Eggplant instead of sausages, or choose tomato and basil instead of a canned sauce and cottage cheese instead of full fat mozz and ricotta; whatever recipe you've learned to fit your new healthful goals. Or use the full fat cheeses if you have the room!

    Most of all have fun.

chicken or turkey salad with walnuts, dried cranberries ,light mayo, croutons, celery. you would have to take som triscuits in a baggie...also you could do the Panera Hummus and Spinach with tomato, cucumber and a lemon on top to squeeze over it
