I started 2 weeks ago today. I'm down 4 pounds. I was encouraged by my brother who recently lost 150. He shared some tips he has learned from a group he belongs to that started with a class proved bray his insurance. He learned that the most successful losers (and to maintain) is to log your calories everyday. He used my fitness pal for the last 9 months.
My challenge is sweets, I sometimes have only desert for a meal. So he has shared some great snack ideas that I have been using for the last two weeks: 1. Delmonte fruit cups with no sugar added topped with two spoons of cool whip. It's like having peach pie. The fruit cups are only 30 calories and cool whip has 25 per spoon. 2. Cantaloupe only has about 200 calories for the whole thing! So snacking on a half a Cantelope cut into chunks between meals is very satisfying. 3. Fiber One snack bars only have 90 calories and they are devine. They have chocolate, cinnamon coffe cake, and lemon. Lemon is my fave and I don't usually care for lemony sweets of any kind. Also, costo's kirkland brand extra lean ham slices only have 25 calories per slice, With a slice whole wheat bread and mustard instead of mayo and a sliced tomato is great lunch.
I hope you find my tips helpful. Keep logging in several times a day. It keeps you aware. My new slogan is: It's hard to be fat. It's hard to be slim, but I'm choosing slim".

Here are the things that work for me:
Log everything you eat, even nibbles...don't get too hung up on "exactness" find something that is close and go with it
Drink lots of water...I like the rule of thumb of taking your body weight, divide in half and drink that many ounces...If you weigh 180, that would be 90 ounces of water a day. If that is too much...drink a lot more than you have been drinking before this!
Keep it simple...don't overcomplicate food, calories are often hidden in sauces, cooking oils, etc. I will do a cooked chicken breast and veggies pretty often!
Indulge in things you love (when you are ready and can do moderation), personally I save about 100 calories a day for chocolate, sometimes it is 2 dove darks, and sometimes it is a SF jello pudding cup with cool whip on it.
forgive yourself...if you have a bad meal, log it, learn from it, and move on! It doesn't have to ruin your day or your next weigh in!
Celebrate your milestones! Pat yourself on the back, post them on here so we can celebrate with you!
