I entered a local program quite some time ago but got really serious and ready to go about 10 months ago. I went to the medical side with the option to go over to the surgical side. So far I have lost 40 pounds and if I lose 11.5 more I will no longer be eligible for the surgical side. :) With this program I get a dietitian, an exercise consultant, a doctor, and a therapist. My relationships with the dietitian and therapist have definitely been invaluable on this weight loss journey. I also get 1/2 off my YMCA membership which is awesome. This group encourage calorie counting and a high protein, lower carb diet. They offer all kinds of support with check-ins, etc. I have been so happy with it so far and want to keep going til I get to my ideal weight.

I am new to this and am not sure what you mean by medical and surgical sides. I saw my new spine dr a couple weeks ago. Due to my increased weight, he wants me to lose 60 lbs before considering a second spine fusion. He referred me to a nutritionist, and I am working with her. I will be seeing a therapist and exercise person. Is this the kind of program you are talking about?

Yes that sounds similar. I'm talking about comprehensive programs. In mine there is the surgical side which is bypass or sleeve, or the medical side, which is nonsurgical.
