Does it ever irritate you...

I don't get too much on the praise for exercising, other than every once in a while my boyfriend telling me he's proud of me for keeping up with it, but I don't mind that.
As for the food thing, I get a lot of opinions on that! And I do NOT talk to people about my food or exercise goals at all. People go out of their way to try and tell me what I need to eat. Every time they have donuts at work and I don't have any, everyone is in disbelief that I don't just have one. Or any kind of high calorie treats that they have around at work, for that matter. It's like they're offended that I don't eat it! If I want it and plan it into my day, then I'll have it. If not, I don't!
Or when I go grab a snack of grapes, or carrots, or trail mix, and I'm asked, "WHAT are you eating?? carrots?! Ew nasty!"
I try not to let anyone know what I eat because I don't want to be ridiculed and it's none of their business, but sometimes they make it their business. Very irritating.0 -
Probably because they see you making healthier choices and it makes them feel guilty. It's usually a jealousy thing or they feel uneasy about themselves. I don't broadcast my weight loss or goals to anyone either, but I have gone out with coworkers that question why I order a salad. I just tell them that's what sounded good to me.
This right here! My mother in law has started with the snarky comments about what I eat. If I eat a regular meal, I must be off my diet. If I eat a salad, I'm starving myself. You should have heard her reaction when she caught me weighing out lettuce (apparently I'm overly obsessed)! But bottom line, I know it's jealousy. She wants to lose weight, but she doesn't have the drive or conviction to change her habits. Meanwhile I'm over here seeing results and not being miserable.
Other than my immediate family, I won't tell anyone about my goals. With all the nasty comments and unwanted (and wrong) diet advice I'm already getting, I won't give other people the chance to put in their two cents0 -
I take the compliment when I am exercising and someone takes the time to acknowledge my efforts to get in better shape. There have been times when I am struggling to finish a run and not quit and a fit runner will offer words of encouragement as they blow by me. It has always helped to convince me that I could keep going even when I was convinced that I couldn't.
I am fortunate in the fact that my friends have noticed my weight loss and accept that I drink water instead of alcohol or choose lower calorie fair when we eat out. I try to save some calories for those dinners and split a high calorie appetizer or dessert with them to save some calories too. My friends know that I watch what I eat and exercise to lose weight instead of the quick fix that they want for themselves.0 -
Sometimes I've had friends that are jealous that you are succeeding and looking good and they haven't stuck to it and try to get you to fall back to their level. Misery loves company. Keep your eye on the prize. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!0

I always ask them if they are REALLY going to eat THAT? After the guilt from the choices sink in I grab it and eat It for them. Nobody bugs me anymore.0
