I'm soooo excited about my new toy. I can't wait for all this snow and ice to thaw so I can use it. I took it to the gym with me though today and used it during a class. The hrm part worked but it wouldn't tell my cals burned. I'm so frustrated, I feel so old because I can't figure this thing out! I've been studying and studying but am frustrated. Does anyone have one? Tips? How can I get it to tell cals!?! Guess I'll continue to hit the books.

It's gps training device....kinda like a polar on steroids. I want to train for the 09 Chicago Marathon starting in the spring and I figure I'll probably use more of the features then. But for now I'm getting used to it and there is so much that it does, I don't know where to start. My dad got it for me at Costco-but they are available on amazon at a good price too.

I have a Garmin (not sure the model #), and a Polar F11. My Garmin will only show me cals burnt when I use it outside where it gets GPS readings. That was the downfall that I found, and the reason I broke down & got a Polar F11. It keeps track of indoor activities. So I use the Garmin when I do my outside runs, and the Polar for all other physical, indoor activities.

Check with Garmin or your manual to see what it says on using it indoors.

    Good luck.

Thanks for you post~perhaps that was why the Garmin wouldn't show cals burned indoors because I was indoors! I'll just have to use it outside. I have a cheapo Nike Triax HRM that only tells heart rate, that works fine for indoor activities!
