Walking the track and shin pain

I recently started walking the track by my house and I noticed that my shins and legs hurt so bad at night. I'm guessing this is because I am new to walking the track. I usually walk three laps around and is about a mile according to my fitbit. Any suggestions for no shin pain or maybe something I can do before hand?? Thanks

Treat shin splints with rest, ice, and OTC pain relievers. Prevent them by going to a running store & get properly fitted for sneakers.

You can get a water or coke bottle (plastic one) fill with water and freeze it the rub that up and down calves to reduce the inflammation0

Walk in shoes without a raised heel. Most shoes have a raised heel (including most running shoes), which increases strain on the shin muscles. Good "zero heel" shoes for walking include skateboard shoes, Keds, etc.
Is the shin pain on the inner half or the outer half of your shins?0 -
