Hi! Just curious what you all think about eating late at night. It is past midnight and I just had some desserts and snacks but am within my calorie goal. Do you think there is a problem with this? I feel the need to restrict myself tomorrow because of it.

How does your body know what time it is? What if you work 2nd or 3rd shift? Your body can't read clocks. As long as you're within your calorie allowance, you're fine. Meal timing has been proven to be insignificant. In fact, some people break their calories down into 6 or more small meals, and some eat one or two large meals, and it's all the same as long as they stay within the correct number of calories. Some even eat over one day and under the next in order to balance out to the correct number by the end of the week. That allows more room for higher calorie treats, as long as you don't go low enough on the low days to feel hungry and trigger a binge.

I try to avoid getting chocolate on my pillow. That's the main thing to watch out for.

I have always worked night shift. Even now, that I am retired, I like to eat late at night. I know if it's 'after midnight' is really the next day. But..if the sun is not up..to me..it's still today. lol Does that make sense? (My thought for myself is...Don't sweat the small stuff, like what time it is.)

To pile on with the same answer: it doesn't matter. Just make sure you do your daily cut off at the same time every day to maintain consistency.

Somehow I've successfully avoided having that ever happen for years!!
