Hello. My doc is concerned that my hemoglobin A1c is now in the diabetes range 6.6 and my fasting blood sugars are slightly elevated sometimes up to 125 so he has me testing my blood sugar three times a day and I am exercising more, working hard on my diet and trying to lose weight. Is anyone else struggling with this. If so please share any advice you might have. Thanks

I am not diabetic but my spouse is and has been for awhile. Myfitnesspal is an excellent tool to track what you are eating. I suggest you read all the permanent posts. Buy a scale and weigh your food. My 1/2 cup oatmeal was about 20% more weight when weighed on a scale than I expected and thus 20% more in calories and 20% more in carbs.

Just walking after meals is very helpful in bringing down blood sugars. Find ways to make this fun. I walk with my spouse because it is more fun. My neighbor talks on her phone when she walks.

Join one of the challenge groups. I prefer to make a game out of weight loss rather than commit myself to food jail.

This is a serious disease. I lost my Mom to it and first she lost her mind. So Please do try your hardest to lose weight and find some kind of activity that is fun.

    cheers,
