This may sound impossible, but apparently it isn't.
I started the Paleo lifestyle the week of April 26th. Before that, I ate about 2,000 calories a day that included lots of soda, bread, carbs, fat (not the good kind), and just junk.
My husband and I needed a change. I was the highest I ever been weighing in at 286. On top of that, I have a stationary desk job and wasn't active whatsoever.
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's which is an autoimmune disease derived from my hypothyroidism. On top of struggling to lose weight, I had zero energy and didn't want to do anything but lay in bed. I started seeing my PCP who then mentioned about Paleo and eliminating gluten, dairy and grains to help my autoimmune disease. I was a bit reluctant but I told myself I'd look into it.
I started the Paleo lifestyle after some major researching and eliminated all processed foods, sugar, dairy, wheat, grains and introduced healthy fats, healthy carbs, lean meat and veggies. The first 3 days were hell. The "carb flu" was just as bad as I had read about. The aches, the cravings, oh my. But those passed and then I started to feel more energized, more natural energy. After work, I was active, running around with my kids and playing more.
My dinner plate has gone from Kraft Mac n Cheese, Ham Steaks and Butter Mashed Potatoes to a huge portion of protein from either fish, chicken or red meat and a handful (or two) of veggies!
Yesterday, I hit the one month mark and did my weekly weigh in and I did it. I lost 20 lbs and hit my mini-goal. I'm sure some of this is water weight, but the rest I can say that my healthy eating did it!
I look forward to seeing what the upcoming months will bring

Incredible. But I heard that loosing too fast can lead to excess flaps of skin...0

Great job!

Nice job. Just don't get frustrated when the loss slows down (and it will). Considering your starting point and the low carb diet, losing twenty pounds in the first month is reasonable.0

hey girl... I just was told that I a intolerant to dairy and gluten. I have been doing dairy and gluten free for a solid week now. I got really sick the first 2 days, it was hell. I thought.. immmm is this in my head... well apparently it wasn't. I haven't weighed myself yet, I'm going to wait another 2 days. But I feel a major difference. please add me as a friend!0
