I am very sorry for your loss. Please focus on recovery. If you have not already done so, talk to a grief counselor or therapist. The hospital where you had the operation probably can give you references. I have suffered losses, I know how you feel. You need to grieve and you are now putting the focus on the weight. It could have been something else equally random. Take care of yourself, and let yourself process what has happened.0

I can't help with the mental side (very sorry for your loss) but I've been there with surgery. 8 week recovery, first 5 bed rest. Really recovery should be your first focus. Since I could do nothing, I picked up some old hobbies I could do while sitting on the couch. Since I couldn't do anything physical, I found things to keep me mentally stimulated. Once I "graduated" to the next step up, I was able to do upper body stuff like hand cycling and using therabands for light resistance work. Maybe you may be allowed to do something like that?
Also, +1 to everything aggelikik said.0
