So, running some good miles and burning those cals, I found that drinking smoothies has been a great way to eat some of those needed calories up.. my fav. recipe right now is

a scoop of soy protein vanilla powder
a banana
cup of blueberries (or whatever fruit you'd like to use)
1 cup (or a 1 1/2) of almond milk unsweetened or .....
after a good long work out, a cup (or a 1 1/2) of silk dark chocolate almond milk

and blend.. yummy yummy...

whats yours?

mine's almost the same, but i add kale, collards, spinach or chard.

for example, this afternoon we made (makes 1 quart)

    3/4c swiss chard
    1/2c strawberries
    1/2c pineapple
    1/4c blueberries
    1 banana
    1 1/4c soy milk
    2T hemp protein powder

it's about 180cals for 1/2 recipe) and totally delicious.

One I drink on carb loading is... half pine apple half watermelon, and enough apple juice to obviously make a smoothie.

Prob. a stilly question. Do you do this up in a food processor because of the swiss chard?

    1/2 cup milk
1-1.5 scoops of unflavored protein powder
    vanilla yogurt
    frozen berries
and either a little water or apple juice (depending on if I have carbs to spare)

I like to use whatever fruit i have around, but one of my favorites is...
1 container peach Light and Fit yogurt
1 cup No Sugar Added Frozen Fruit Berry Medley with blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries.
1 cup Lite Vanilla Soy Milk
    1 medium banana.
    Blend together in blender.
The fruit is already frozen so there is no need for ice. Sometimes i add milled flaxseed if i have time to drink it before it thickens.

I've made two smoothies so far. The first one was: a scoop of protein powder, about two cups of frozen mixed berries, one cup of water (I used water because of my diabetes). I also used about half a cup of Presidents Choice greek yogurt. It was very good, I did find with the mixed berries that I had the seeds in my mouth.
My second was : a banana, a half cup greek yogurt, frozen peaches & I think maybe mangoes, one cup of skim milk. I found that the milk didn't raise my blood sugar. I used two scoops of protein powder. It was very good.
  • 1 cup silk light vanilla, 1 banana, 2TBS peanut butter, 1 scoopful Smart Smoothie vanilla bean protein powder...sometimes i'll add a couple prunes or strawberries then ice...yummy!

    1 banana
    silk light chocolate soy milk
    1 cup mixed berried
    ice

    blitz in blender
    :)

This sounds amazing! I just got a new blender and I do believe this will be the first thing I make :)
  • that sounds a lot better it seams like every body else uses protein batter, and soy milk. I tried the basics today
Mango strawberi and bannan mix not bad Oh and I throw in a little thing of yougurt.
I quess since I mixed it up in I just tasted the yogurt.

Maybe next time Ill add fruit but not the yougurt...
Oh then my question is how about all the carbs in the fruit

I've used the food processor to grind some quick oats and added milk & fruit. It needs a little tweaking though. :-)

I'm open to suggestions or hints.
