I couldnt do it

I was down to 207 from 295. Well 2 days ago i was 227. I was wicked strict. No Booze and counted everything to a T. Worked out etc. I did that for 7 months or so. I was getting very bored and depressed felt like i was not having any fun other then the weight loss. Well I started drinking on the weekends and fitting in the calories on that time. I just knew this was going to happen slowly but surely i was messing up. Drinking more and more and once i was buzzed or worse my rock solid eating habits were shot. I had to stop. So the last 2 days i went to the gym. I measured everything. Stayed with my 1425 calories. I am not sure the weight is doing. I know it has to be in the right direction. But deep down I know I can never ever not be on point. I have to see food as an addiction to me. The Booze was just a side note. I have been heavy a good part of my life drinking or not. I can never go back to the heavy almost ready to die person i was. I do believe that will break me down mentally. Thanks for listening i just had to say this out loud. I guess i do have strength enough to get back on track 2 days before a big holiday weekend I am still lighter then i was in the after pic here. But certainly back on the way up.

Perhaps 1425 is too low for you, leading to binges that take you above your TDEE. Where did you come up with that figure? A 227-pound male should be eating more than that. Scooby's calculator gave me 1900+ for a sedentary male, depending on your height (I typed in 5'8").
You can do it.0 -
@barbecuesauce I know I am on the low side for sure. But i have to be perfectly honest with myself in saying that I started drinking more and more and then started eating more and more to the point i had to slam on the breaks. I have been drinking a lot of water the last 2 days but do feel like crap. I think it could be my body reacting from taking away the food and booze. Its sad but true. The number came from Myfitnesspal as i started to drop it put me there. I think i said i wanted to loose 2lbs a week.0

Many of us have faced this same situation. Right now I am going through basically the same thing.
I lost 80lbs in a year...in six months I put 40lbs of it back on. I am now trying to get on track to lose that 40lbs again plus about 10 additional.
I am doing it differently this time. I burned out before so I have to take a different route this time.
You can give up I suppose but that doesn't sound like a plan to me.
I think the first thing you need to ask yourself...can you succeed only eating 1425 calories...0 -

Maybe I'm projecting because this is what I have done, but consider this: You eat at 1425 for a period of time. You do well. Then you go off the rails and binge and feel guilty and do it again the next day and the next. Might be better for you to reset MFP to one pound a week until you get a handle on things. Or you could continue with a more aggressive approach and do well until you go off the rails again.
I would also re-input your info into MFP. There was a glitch that was handing out incorrect calorie goals for a while there.0 -

I agree with this!0 -
Thanks everyone for the input. I do think i need to re-access some stuff. I do believe the alcohol put me down a bad path. But one thing i did that in the past i would let falter is. Even though i knew that the outcome was not going to be positive I weighed myself daily. In the past i would avoid scales and even mirrors other then to shave. I do think making my self accountable in some way helped me stop before it was too late.0

Losing Weight isn't the key to happiness, Happiness is the key to Losing Weight. I know I have a ways to go, but I have realized that if I am going to lose this weight in my brain, I need to focus on other aspects of my life, not just what I put in my mouth. How I approach this journey is my secret weapon. Try not to put all your emotional eggs in one basket. Branch out, and keep the pleasure in fixing a great meal, not just consuming calories as means to an end. Great progress takes perseverence and that is an accomplishment no one can take from you.0

Well done recognizing the slide and putting a stop to it. There will be setbacks. Now you know how to deal with them.
I agree with what others have said about your calories being low. I'm 5' 9" 207 and losing 1 lb/week on 1920 calories. Take a closer look at your mfp inputs to check the recommendation. There is a comfortable middle ground between too strict and giving up.0 -
@Annr I agree and i am working on that. I do have plenty of things i love doing. I just try not to be so food focused. Its always been my downfall. I have always enjoyed working out and the last few years have been fighting MMA and doing jiu jitsu. Even though I am 50 I really enjoy fighting. Going back to it probably Tuesday. Going slow of course.
@greaseswabber I am certainly going to look at my intake a bit closer. In the past when i had so much to loose I was a little too focused on getting the weight down. Now that I am getting closer to being at a more manageable weight I want to drill it down a bit more so that I can keep it off.0 -
aw 50? When I turned 50 my view was that I was only half way done. You have ooogles of stuff you wish to do. I commend you on doing the fighting MMA and doing jiu jitsu! I fight with my husband does that count..lol.. Naaa not really.0
