OKay, I have a Polar 4t. Do I only use it when I do cardio? I read that its pointless to wear it when doing weight type exercises. Is this correct?

They are heart rate monitors and give you ifnormation first and foremeost on what your heart rate is.
If you want calorie burns based on what your heart rate is then youd be better off sticking to only using it for steady state cardio becayse its unsuited for anything else. Cardio is where you are likely to do the greatest amount of direct calorie burns anyway.

Thank you. I can stick to that. I don't want to assume that I burned calories when in fact I haven't.

I'm not sure about the Ft4, but I have the V800, have used the loop, and FT80 any calories burned were recorded when wearing the sensor, the would also give you a report of the benefit of how ever you were using it through the polar training, or polar flow app. IE: it would let you know if the calories burned were more beneficial for fat burn, or building stamina.
