im only focusing on losing extra fat and didnt go over my calories but went almost 20 grams over with my protein intake for today. I know it turns into fat if not "used" but will it really slow down the process? Or is it all in the calories if youre trying to lose. Just curious since ive been pretty accurate on my macros

20g over is no big deal, unless it also means you went over your calorie goal.

It only turns to fat if it put you over your maintenance calories.
Many people look at the protein goal as a minimum, so you're fine.0 -
Thank you so much, again:)0

Calories are king when it comes to weight loss. As long as your calories are in the right range, you should lose weight (barring any medical conditions, etc).
Your macros (fat/protein/carbs) help with things like health, hunger, mood, etc. Protein helps your body retain lean muscle mass while you're losing weight and will help keep you feeling less hungry throughout the day. MFP gives one possible setup for those macros, but it's not the only one that works for fat loss. Feel free to play around with the percentages and see what works best for you.
A lot of us think that MFP sets their protein a little too low, anyway.0 -
