Hey guys,
I need your help! I always try to track my food. But I have a problem tracking my dinner. I live in a student dorm, and I have no idea what they add to the food they cook, how much I eat of it or anything. We are with 12 people and they cook very often.. cooking myself is not social, so I don't think that's an option. I don't want to isolate myself.
Because of this I find it very hard to actually measure my calories.
Can you guys recommend anything?
We do eat healthy.. unfortunately pasta as well (quite often) but hey, I try to eat low carb during the day..

Ask the cook what they are putting in the food. You could also offer to cook a few times per week.

This, and what's wrong with carbs?

Nothing wrong with carbs, not at all, but i'm trying to follow a low carb -high protein diet! Works best for me !

Ask what is in the food.
Find a recipe for the dish online and enter it... It won't be exact but it can give you some idea.
Prepare food or help prepare food.
Try to eat foods that are easier to enter the individual ingredients like a piece of meat and vegetables instead of a casserole. Cheese or cream sauces will have more calories than a tomato sauce or no sauce.
Figure out what portion sizes look like, figure out how much food the dishes you usually use hold.
Eat food you prepare while other people eat their food in the same room so you can still socialize.

If you want to stay social you can always cook and eat with the group, just using your own food.

Use's MFP's recipe builder. You live there, you (and others) cook there, it should be no problem to create a recipe for Fettuccine Alfredo or Spaghetti alla Puttanesca or KD and hotdogs or what have you. Enter in all the ingredients; set the # of servings for 12 servings or more if that's the case, and presto, you've got a fairly accurate calorie count for the meals you folks are creating and eating.

Within a week or so you'll probably have entered in the recipes for most nightly dinners.

It's easy and hardly takes any time at all. Check the bulk ingredient page on the website or your phone app may also have it.
