I tried the Special K Diet once too...It didnt work for me. Not only that but you will get sick of eating the same thing...all the time....I did. What would be better is to just buy healthier foods and to use portion control. It's hard but, YOU CAN DO IT!

Dont look at anything as a diet, the only way to lose and do it in a positive, sustainable way, is to do a lifestyle change. If granola bars and shakes are the lifestyle you want go for it. But your body needs to chew to trigger the proper hormones to signal you are full so please atleast eat healthy fruits & veggies with it.

I KNOW I always failed because I looked at diets, not a lifestyle change. Now that Ive changed my eating habits permanently, I feel better and lose efficiently, without the constant re-gain

I never was able to stick to a diet, whats worked for me is a lifestyle change, something I can alter and work on while I am doing it. Make your own diet, thats what will work best for you. You won't feel deprived of foods you like because you work them in with moderation or after you have earned them with a workout. Most diets work long enough to get the weight off but once you get off of them you end up gaining it back because you don't have a maintenance plan. After posting this I saw the girl above me wrote the same thing, if you see people writing the same thing over and over there has got to be some truth to it right

Waste of time. That is why this calorie counting deal worked for me (and DH.) For us, it is a lifestyle change. All these fad diets are just that; they work temporarily but once you start eating again, you gain it all back plus some.

Look into the 17 Day Diet. I don't think that living on a restricted "diet" works, but the 17 Day Diet teaches you how a plate should look. You will honestly lose weight quickly and safely, which is great motivation to stay on track!
  • thnx for the advice all so your saying smaller portoins is the way to go then ??

My grandpa has a rule that is, "Don't take the first one." I get his theory here: it's hard to say no to more after you get a small sampling. Look into the 17DD: it focuses on fruits, vegetables, dairy, and protein...the things that should be on your plate (and you eventually get a cheat day- which is one of the things that gets me through a week of eating healthy).

Everything you need for success is right here. Smaller portions( I do everything by the serving size on the package), healthier food, and stay within your calorie goal. Remember this site creates the deficit for you so if you exercise and earn more calories you can eat those calories and still lose the weight just the same.

It's just to get you to buy their products! I would get tired of cereal; but it's a healthier choice than fast food.... They do have GREAT meal replacement bars though!

and smarter portions. Load up on fruits & veggies & protein, go easy starches. The special K diet is just their easy way of reducing your daily calories, but you'd get bored with the fancy rice cereal twice a day, not to mention miss out on some vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that 'real food" would give you.

The Special K diet is a scam by the Kellogs company. They want you to buy their products and eat them for two meals a day when all you are doing is reducing calories...exactly what MFP is having you do but Kellogs gives you a narrow selection of foods.

Bottom line: Reduce calories, lose weight. That can be done by eating regular food and not cereals and meal bars.

I tried the Special K diet for a day. I was starving by the end of it. It just didn't fill me or satisfy me at all. When I started just cutting calories and watching what I ate, I saw a change in the scale and still wasn't starving. Long story short, smaller portions and healthier eating! :)
