Eating "healthy" in Las Vegas

I am going on vacation to Las Vegas for a few days in August this summer and I am wondering if anyone has some ideas for "healthier" options for food while I'm there. I will be staying at Caesars Palace (which will be difficult for making food in the room because apparently rooms with refrigerators there are monitored and charge you a re-stocking fee if anything is removed) Soooo... I'm not looking to eat like I would at home and be super strict, but I would like to keep myself on track with my 45lbs+ weight loss. I am looking for a good place for a cheat meal too ;)

Any good restaurants?
Meal recommendations from restaurants?
Easy meals to make in the room?

Vegas is super fun! Have a great time. I stayed at Ceasars palace when I went and yup they nickle and dime you on everything including the fridge - Though I did hear afterwards if you claim you need it to keep your insulin cold they may waive the fee. We packed a soft cooler and filled it with ice and kept it in the bathtub to keep our stuff cold. we did have a rental vehicle for a few days so could go to walmart and get food for snacks and breakfast. But the drugstores along the strip have a few options for healthy snacks- yogurt, cheese sticks, carrots, etc. I also packed or picked up lots of snacks that wouldn't need to be kept cold-nuts, crackers etc.

Cheesecake factory in the forum shops next to ceasars is great for the binge meal- huge menu, huge portions, but they also had good low cal options. And there is a little mexican patio restaurant in front of the forum shops fountain that had great (and cheap!) breakfast. Beware the starbucks in ceasars will run you at least double what the normal starbucks prices are. Also recommended is Battistas Italian restaurant(off strip)

Really I mostly drank my calories while there, but lots and lots of walking (Bring good shoes!!) so I figured I stayed within maintenance.

If you figure it out, let me know! I was just there for 5 days. Of course, I only gained about 1.5 pounds so I don't consider it a total disaster. Honestly, rather than trying to "keep on track" just look to maintain while you're there. Allow yourself a little bit of fun. Isn't that what vacation (and Vegas!) is all about? There's so much good food to try and lots of drinks, too.

You will get in lots of walking (I did 16,000+ steps each day) so you'll burn a few extra calories. You should be able to get a free fridge in your room at Caesar's if you tell them it's for medical supplies like insulin. Otherwise, they charge you $25 or so a day. My nephew and his wife have a baby and got one free to store her formula. You definitely don't want to take anything out of the minibar (or from on top of it) or they will charge you.

As far as recommendations, if you like German food, the Hofbrau House is fun. Batista's Hole in Wall (as mentioned earlier) is good. Even better, is the Ellis Island Casino and Brewey on Koval. It is a casino, brew pub and a couple of restaurants all in a laid back, off-the-strip location that's still close to Caesar's. Their beers are awesome (and $2.50 or less for a 22 ounce glass) and so is the NY style pizza. They also have karaoke at night. If I lived there I'd be in the place all the time.

There are lots of great places to eat on the Strip but most of them are really expensive. Even the usual chain restaurants jack up the prices there.

It's Vegas. You must do your cheat at the Bacchanalian Buffet in Caesars Palace. 500 dishes from around the world!

Why? A few days will hardly derail you. Eat whatever you want then come back and get back on the wagon. You only get vacation days a few times a year.

I've never had a problem at any restaurant here and making request or asking for modifications to items. You can always staty on track at a buffet. Lots of healthy option. My only problem with that would be cost cause they can be rather pricey so if I were doing one you better believe I am indulging! Lol. I would say you would do a lot of walking but you are coming in August so not sure how much walking you will feel comfortable doing in the heat.

This may not be very ethical but you can request a room fridge and say you need to store medication in it. Congrats on you 45 pound loss. There are a lot of restaurants here off strip that cater to healthy eaty but, again, you are on vacation so live it up! I plan to be in Chicago next week and I will be eating all the food! Lol.

If you are here on Sunday Border Grill has a great butler brunch at Mandalay Bay. Bottomless mimosas of different flavors, view of the pool.

You must go to Mesa grill. Bobby flays restaurant. They have a great chicken skewer and many other great things on their menu. The food has such flavor! It's a nice treat. It's at Caesar's palace. You can share a delicious dessert with your tablemates. They bring lots of silverware and service is excellent! But go there for the food and cheat a little and have fun!

    super easy, buffets.

Agreed. If cost is an issue at all, the buffets downtown are much less expensive than the strip. I always kind of resent paying $30-$40 for a plate of mostly veggies, but I'm cheap like that.

For your cheat meal, there is an amazing place called Max Brenner's in the Forum Shops. They have great meal items, but the whole restaurant is themed around chocolate. It's fantastic.

For healthier options, the buffets are easy to find a decent plate and a lot of fun. Research your menus before you go and sit down with a plan. The food in Vegas is (mostly) excellent, and it's easy to get a lot of walking in on the strip, downtown, or in the casinos.

    Have fun!!

Thanks everyone! There are some really great recommendations you are giving me! I will definitely enjoy myself and plan to eat lots of great food within reason. (Honestly, due to clean eating for so long it can cause me to feel really uncomfortable after I eat at some restaurants, hence the reason I'm looking for *quote*healthy*unquote* ideas. A buffet will be in order at least once! Thanks again :)
