Logging "cleaning"

I noticed that some people log "cleaning" and I usually don't because it's just part of my normal lifestyle as a Stay at Home Mommy... however, today I got up in a motivated mood, and REALLY tore my house up... I cleaned for 4 solid hours... I tore up everything, the kid's rooms, bathrooms, kitchen etc. etc. etc. and it was a LOT of work... so I decided that since it was outside of my ordinary every day cleaning that I would log it... and it said 1474 calories burned for 240 minutes of "cleaning: light to moderate effort" I don't want to log it as vigorous cleaning b/c I don't want to assume that I burned more calories than I did (although maybe I should... you should have SEEN my sons' bedroom.. they had so much crap stuffed under their beds OMG I'm gonna kill them when they get home from school lol)

... Any thoughts on this?

I've found that the MFP estimations can be over what a HRM will tell you, so I'd maybe log it a bit lower than that. I don't log my regular cleaning either, but if I'm going to town--up and down the stairs, climbing stuff, moving really fast, etc. I log it. I also wear my HRM so I know what I'm actually burning. Hope that helps a bit!

I wouldn't be surprised if you burned that much - it's FOUR hours of moving around quickly, up and down, etc. I vote log it if it's out of the ordinary for you (and therefore not in your daily allowance)! If you eat it all back or not is up to you.

I never log, unless it is above and beyond, like you. I do however only enter about half the time in moderate to light because i want to be conservative on calories when i do enter it. Someday i will get a HRM

only you know what you did, it sounds a significant effort, just hard to know how much you burned

    FWIW ~ 1,500 calories is what I would burn by running 12 miles (I weight ~ 175)

I probably won't eat it all back, I will eat about half back of the 2 miles that I will walk later tonight, I usually plan for that ahead of time, but I don't think I'll worry about eating back those calories. Just was wondering how accurate that is!

Most people that log cleaning have their daily activity level set at "sedentary" so they can track everything they do. I do tend to think MFP overestimates calories, so I'll usually round my exercise time down, and/or make sure not to eat back every calorie they give me.

Alright, well I'll leave it how it is then and I won't eat those calories back at all just in case. Thanks everyone for your input! :)

i log cleaning because it is a rarity, i hate housework so i tend to do big sessions of it a few times ratrher than little bits each day, i logged my hour of ironing the other day because i danced as i did it, same as when i cleaned the kitchen, instead of just walking from the dishwasher to the cupboard i had a boogie, took a bit longer but made it much more fun and burned a few more calories
